Will Eternal Players finally catch a break

First players build up there Eternal toons only to have Blizzard increase item cap the 925
Better refarm everything in Eternal
Season 4 you loot reborn , temper etc
Hey you eternal players who just regig all your toons after the 925 change. Do it again
Ugh so we do this
Season 5 . Were back again with huge unique Changes. Guess what Eternal players. Sucked in all your Ubers are now Trash farm them Again
Like Faaark.
With a highly likely numbers squish from 100 to 60 being the new max , maybe players going to 50 and then introducing 10 lvls to grind to max yourself again. Therefore gaining new Paragon points.
I concern myself with . Will they boost the item cap the say 1000 and completely screw over eternal players yet again.
At this point it seems very much like why bother just play seasonal cause every 3 months whatever you have done becomes trash tier cause Blizzard don’t give AF about eternal
Goodbye all the tempering and masterworking you done
Kicked to the curb all your 2/3 GA pieces.
Like seriously !
Will Eternal players get a break come S6 or do we just abandon everything n just play seasons cause that’s where the Battle pass is

Eternal whining will ruin this game.

the game model is to “enjoy” the chase of getting “bis” gear. if you didnt find it fun to do. then you wont be happy to continue this game

the seasonal content fresh char takes it a step further by zeroing your char and letting you “race to BIS” vs your friends (wish there was better leader boards). thats the thrill of the game, as has been in D3, and in D2, and well not in D1 cause it only had 1 expansion with a gear reset to it, and it was fun once you got BIS gear cause you could roll around killing most everything but without change/new items/new content the game will get stale, youll shelve it to maybe play it once more in your lifetime (parasite eve teardrop) but realize the best thrill was the fresh first time. thats what seasons give you.

eternal is for down time between seasons to show off what you did in season to your friends while your waiting for the next batch of changes to try new builds. seasons keeps the game alive. the minor issues your complaining about are not issues for active players who login EVERY new season, this is who the devs need to cater to, IMO.

Lol this is completely false. Some people do not play seasonal and like having a perfected build they play. Having blizz constantly move the goal post and making eternal refarm there hard farmed for gear is a joke.
Changes like the uber one should of been retroactive

Yes, that’s the point. It will be this way until the game goes into maintenance mode. It may be “Eternal” mode, but that in no way guarantees eternal relevance. The only thing you should ever consider permanent is the fact that your characters will be max level so that you can re-outfit them when the meta changes, etc. :joy:

You won’t see stability for a while. The reason I say this is because they are still putting out fires currently. The expansion will add its own set of issues and things will need to be changed there too. By the time they ‘fix’ all that it’ll be just in time for the next expansion and the process starts all over again.

Now if you want a more complete experience, I’d highly recommend waiting a few years when the last expansion comes out and the only thing to be changing will be seasonal gimmicks. Before that time though, expect the game to go through some drastic changes.

This is typical of most Live service games that continue to add content though. Outside of PvP oriented games which usually have a base that stays consistent.

Not true. The loot reborn pt. 1 & 2 replaced seasonal mechanics last 2 seasons. There is no way they intend to keep doing this every season in place of a seasonal mechanic.

Timing right into the expansion was a lot, as the expansion will change a lot of things too. But if they plan to get back to seasonal mechanics after expansion/S6, then we can assume that eternal will be viable again.

It won’t be as non-stop as the past two seasons, but the general trend will remain. Every few seasons players can expect a fairly expansive shakeup to the meta as they try and improve existing systems, and the expansions will heap new ones on top, which will then likely require further adjustments in their wake. No, we won’t see everything go immediately to the trash in a single season, but people are fooling themselves if they think things are going to be highly stable anytime soon, especially with the plan to release expansions close to annually. Developer concerns as they pertain to Eternal have a lot more to do with whether the game is entertaining and feature-rich than they do with whether the characters from previous seasons are performing well without build adjustments or additional farming. The playerbase resides primarily in seasons and they plan accordingly.

I think most eternal players like myself arn’t concerned with meta changes. It is the complete gear reworks that kills the journey on eternal.

You can tweak your current builds and make new ones when a sesson isn’t like it has been the past two seasons, with system and gear redos.

If these huge changes came once a year with an expansion, it would be fine.

Very disappointed that my Mythic’s in eternal were not updated.

I’d also like to play eternal and not rush with my characters, but knowing Blizzard… Well I thought that Blizzard would know better after they had to rework D3, forcing every eternal player to reequip multiple times. I thought they would actually release a finished product this time, but no. That said, if you want a stable eternal experience with D4, you’ll have to wait a long time. At least a few years until Blizzard looses interest in making drastic changes. And honestly, with this “modern days” Blizzard, you never know what you’re going to get at the end.

The loot reborn thing imo was just awful with how they handled it.
Like, they basically junked a ton of work people put into items and then lolcow’d about it.

Frankly if they ever pull it again I’ll walk away from Blizzard games entirely. You do not screw with people’s time investment like that. It’s completely disrespectful and thoughtless.

This game was already ruined from the moment it launched, but of course it could get even worse lol.

Seasons were never about racing your friends lol, it was to reset the economy, then it morphed into a way to add some new content to keep the game fresh. Then it turned into play seasons only. But d4 has no economy and no new content so I’m also wondering why they are here.

I would rather they continue iterating until they find something enjoyable rather than keep something bad and stagnant because it will upset a minority of players.

Actually, had a lot of fun refarming gear for old characters in eternal last season after I was done with season. It was actually enjoyable and helped me get some character ideas for this season.

Some refarming always expected. Class and build / specific spell ability changes make this happen.

However, core foundation systems of the game should be stable.

Itemization
Damage mechanics

People misunderstand that the handle of the razor blade doesnt change (eternal base game). The blades (seasons) do. Right now we are getting both new handles and blades. Not the best analogy but having to this way helps people conceptualize the dynamic.

What would you do if you didn’t have to refarm everything? What’s left to do if you’re 100 and have all the gear you need?

Well i think the issue is we are longitudinally playing the game so our goals are different.

Many are fleshing out all the builds they can for all their classes they play.

Having to restart that process when you arent finished happens when the gear is reset.

People play eternal so we dont redo things generally speaking.

We dont want to re level
We dont want to re find tempers
We dont want to re find aspects
We dont want to redo strong holds and get teleport locations.

We dont want to refarm everything.

That’s where that new content is supposed to come in yea?
