So some of you probably heard about The Crew being removed from players’ libraries becoming unplayable because servers got shut down.
Made me think about Diablo 3 and 4 knowing that they are online only. I’m one of those who sometimes gets that desire to return to old game and play it again. Those games are totally playable solo and have story mode.
I understand online only for security and anti piracy reasons but if servers were to close offline mode should be added instead of doing it dirty like with The Crew.

The answer is we don’t know with MSFT acquisition. Before then it would have been probably easy to say that they’d be available for quite some time.
Now… we just have no way to even theorize if these games will be perpetually allowed to live

Didn’t the crew have some messed up licensing battle?
Eventually I’m sure they’ll stop being supported and shut down. One thing to keep in mind you don’t buy the game you buy a license to access the servers for a period of time thats undefined.

well, everything ends at one point. that being said, diablo 2 is still online.
Since when has Diablo 3 been online only?
Can you please show where Blizzard has ever stopped an online only game from playing and what has what one company did got to do with what another company does
and will Diablo 3 and 4 get deleted from your library, Yes it will, when you delete them
d3 is only offline playable on console. for pc its online only.
Well it is on PC and people demanded offline mode since it got released. Similarly with D4.
let’s make a deal. add 10$ to my bnet balance and you can take away my d3 no problem :3
it just feels bad to get something (you paid for and own) taken away with nothing in return heh
*apparently could happen to division1 over at ubi, but i dont mind that one so much… i never think about launching good old div1 when div2 is so good these days.

***happened to me with hellgate:london. i had that sweet looking box untouched for a while and when i finally decided to give it a shot there were no servers to be found.
Now explain how one wanna be company that closed down their servers means that everyone is going to shutdown their servers
I guess WoW has to be shutdown because it’s been running just as long as the crew so should be closed down already because the crew have closed down theirs
and besides according to everyone here on the forums noone plays Diablo 4 anyway and is dead anyway
Isn’t that Ubisoft? Like a whole different struggling company?
Honestly I think it’s a little early to be worrying about this. Diablo 1’s servers are still up from 1996. That’s all I’m saying.
This is a problem future me can worry about, when and if it happens within my lifetime.
