Im curious to know what you guys think. Will its popularity fade so low that it will be abandoned? In all honesty i really hope not because despite all the negativity and the said competition; i really enjoy Diablo 4.
2 different games. So i really doubt it will be death of D4 as people seem to think.
One is for more hardcore players, the other one is more for casuals.
Personally i will be playing both but mainly stick to D4.
Eh, quite an overused statement which I think it holds little value. If anything, I’d argue POE2 is more like a game for everyone compared to D4 that it’s a game for people that want to play couple hours a week.
Anyway, I think we’ll have to play it first to see if the hype will end up realizing. Having said that, I am hopeful. I am not hopeful for D4 and its developers however.
In my opinion, most PoE players are likely to come back to D4 at least one season per expansion to see what’s new. So PoE launching would practically not impact D4 aside from active player counts, which doesn’t matter in a game that relies on whales and expansion sales rather than active player counts.
The active player count will drop considerably though, especially mid seasons, as the people who still play D4 seasons after a month are probably quite hardcore players and therefore more likely to play PoE.
I heard something say.
Diablo 4 is the game for someone wanting to play spend 100 hrs in a season
POE is the game for someone who wants to spend 1000 hours in a season.
Personally POE just feels too complicated & difficult.
Tho their class showcase looked neat, Maby i’ll try it out, But the massive boards and them saying stuff like ”The most difficult boss we’ve ever created” are things that make me not wanna try it
It will absolutely survive but it is going to take a massive hit!
If poe2 is better than poe1 then it’ll prob end pretty badly for d4. Poe2 will have the same audience and will probably be more accessible than d4.
Now D4 get hit hard, you said for casuals…which casuals? a nolifer that cant compete in complexity (Casual type A) or a dad gamer (Casual type B)?
do you think casual really push pit >90?
D3 is still around but no one is saying that it’s a serious contender for the title of the top ARPG.
D4 will stick around but the window of opportunity for it to be a serious competitor for PoE2 is rapidly closing. At this point, D4 can only me a comeback if PoE2 early access is a mess and the D4 team gets it act together for S8.
We are already only like 5 or 6 years away from D5 according to previous dev statements. It’s more likely that D4 will be put in maintenance mode while the team tries again with D5.
Dont let people tell you this. It has more depth sure. You can understand it all if you put a little effort into reading. Its much more streamlined that PoE1 is. There are also tutorials, some with video, and guides all in game for just about everything. There will be videos put out by creators like Rax to make things easy to understand from a casual perspective.
Do not let people tell you the game is too difficult. You might miss out on a good gaming experience if you do. Im not saying you will like the game but you wont know if you dont try.
I didnt play PoE1 for this very reason. I played PoE2 closed beta and found it wasnt as complex to understand as people want to make you think.
Path of exile will be a game. As games have been couple of years ago.
Challenge the people to overcome them. Have fun in it. Get invested in it. Learn the rules and enemies.
Diablo is now a “brain off” hold a button and kill bazilion mobs. I know that PoE1 was like that to a certain degree but then again the devs said they will cahnge entirely on PoE2 as it is supposed to feel like a “different” game. As they will support PoE1 ongoing it makes sense, PoE1 is your extreme clickfest game and PoE2 will be a more slow paced rooted game.
I enjoy this premise. I mean technicaly D4 promised the same before release. They explicitly said D3 wasnt liked that much and that we get a darker and slow paced route.
Well ya, we see how that turned out, all a bunch of lies i guess.
The real question is will Diablo and its competitors survive this industry over the next few years.
Because anyone with eyes can see that gaming as whole has not been having the greatest time over the last couple of years.
Indie and AA games have been doing great.
AAA studios need to break their addiction to milking whales and trying to reinvent the wheel.
I thought about playing both… I was around 45%-60% Really considering Getting POE 2, (Still not a fan of the graphics AT All)- But I’m hearing some negativity about it and it’s kind’a putting me off.
I’m still playing Diablo 4, but I’d say I’ve done most of the content enough to where NOW I have the option to play something else.
I think (for me and perhaps others) when they are done with the season … say within the first few weeks (??) THEN they can play other games, such as POE 2.
OR
They can play POE 2 for a while then get back to Diablo 4.
I’ve said it so many times, it’s Not 1 or the other… Play Both.
Anyone, (Anyone) can manage their time if they want to do something, people are (should be) responsible to taking care of their personal affairs - family/work/errands etc etc- then play which ever they feel regardless.
So that comment about Dads being busy with family and work and kids and stuff like that (Yeah the whole world has things to do) - but they can still have the time to play what ever they want, whether it’s POE 2 or Diablo 4.
Curious what that is.
It falls under the situation of “everybody complaining about Something”. (Which I HATE, even for POE 2, and I’m genuine white knight for D 4, that should tell you something about People in general, but anyway…)
Like I said, for me it’s the “graphics”. Not really a fan of it To be honest.
I’ve also hear it’s
- overly complicated/complex
- that if you die the end game is bricked from you completing it.
- You lose exp if you die.
This is what I heard, I don’t know how true it is… I don’t want to really spoil myself by doing too much research (and looking at even More videos) so I’m gonna in the middle, but leaning on waiting and see.
I’m not sure it will survive itself, to be honest. I keep playing, but ancestral legendaries are hard to come by and the XP ramp from 250 to 300 is beyond a normal, working man’s capability to achieve in a season.
Both games have very different target audiences, if poe 2 can attract and keep casuals on board… D4 might be cooked tbh, we’ll have to wait and see I guess!
I 100% understand that. I’m playing rouge right now and I’m finding it very difficult to find the things I need (gear) to really do anything. But I’ve done enough.
It’s situations like this where you just take a step back, analyze and if you have the option, play something else, at least until the next season.
For the most part for me, every prior season I’ve played MOST of Every Season, this season 6 not so much. I’ve done enough, and I’m more or less looking forward to season 7.
POE 2, comes out at a great time for those who are done with D 4 and can play something else. Luckily the beta can help decided if people will invest their time on it or wait for Season 7.
Remember, it’s not 1 or the other. It Can Be Both.
No, they don’t. I’m one of them.
