Currently Duriel is the best source of endgame gear, especially uber uniques which are a part of many best end game builds.
RMT breaks this fair game process completely where players are able to simply buy Duriel runs or materials with real money thus gaining a massive advatage over players who dont enagage in RMT (which is against the TOS)
So how will leaderboars in S3 be handled if people can simply “pay for power” buying 1000s of boss runs with real money to get the best gear as fast as possible?
They won’t be doing anything, only you nerds cared about who or who is on the leaderboards, this isn’t some million dollar DOTA comp bro.
Leaderboards in D3 was like an survey to see which build or class were underpowered, most probably will be the same here with top 100 running the same build meta.
as long as there is trading there will be rmt
this is true for every game
and little can be done about it which wouldnt massivly influence normal players aswell
It slows it down somewhat, that’s the target; not halting it. Because it’s less convenient being invited to a team than it is taking the items and doing it at your leisure afterwards.
But they can crack down harder on it too, by forcing everyone to pay together with binding everything.
Yes and no. Eggs are down to 3.5m from 4.5m since only a few days. The materials is going to the rock bottom of value. From duping, perhaps, but if it wasn’t that then it’s botting. I suppose that’s good when you have things to get at Duriel’s but having done all that, eventually, you efforts will not be rewarded well in coin when selling the materials you’re stocking. Meaning that the game will age poorly.
But then again, what value does materials have when bound if you don’t need them? Perhaps they can have added functionality then but… well, idk.
The biggest concern isn’t the value but that having fine things isn’t a point of pride in this situation, it’s just expected. Comparative value drops.
I suppose it doesn’t really matter, we’re solo anyway. In a multiplayer world. A world where cooperation doesn’t matter, just follow the current op guy and collect the loot at the end of the event. Not that it will matter picking that up, so eventually you don’t even need to go to legions or something like that; no one will until a new season hits. This process is expedited through exploitative trade.
Not sure how I feel about it, frankly. I just care about the gameplay, really. I can find my own stuff, which is good.
Perhaps they should further the solo capability? But then one can wonder what the trade is for.
Yeah, don’t know what I’m thinking on this. Nothing, I suppose. Whatever’s done it will have bad consequences.
They are a joke. People cheat all the time for this. If being on some insignificant list in a silly video game is actually important to your life, there is a problem.
So what does the player get for being #1 vs #100 or #1000 for these leaderboards?
If your answer is bragging rights then I see no reason to worry about it.
Maybe a joke to you, otherwise devs are wasting their time adding joke features to the game.
RMT is against the TOS so anyone engaging in it hopefully gets banned.
I am always surprised how players are quick to yell “P2W” when companies add pay for power in cash shop, but at the same time players are gladly paying for power via RMT?
Like what is going on? Pay for power via RMT is ok but pay for power via cash shop is not?
Pay for power should not be ok no matter who is getting the money
i honestly doubt that. yes, it is less convenient, yet the people who are involved in rmt will just do it for a chance to get their advantages.
i mean heck, show me a game of these kinds that doesnt involve rmt? ^^
strongly disagree there. Really, Rmt sucks, we are on the same boat there. However, any game that features any kind of competition has a rmt black market sadly.
Blizzard should really just be on their toes to ban people.
Theres no point in reducing game options to punish RMT people, when those are the minority of the playerbase.
I have no doubt there will be a couple of ban waves over the season like they did in D3. You’ll have bots and rmt people at the top of the leaderboard one month then all of a sudden they’ll be gone the next. It’s actually rather fun to watch.
Now it won’t be immediate bans mind you, and you’ll see them for a bit before anything happens, but when it does just keep your eyes on the leaderboards. Also get ready in the forums because we might see a few people pop in here asking why they were banned, because clearly they did nothing wrong.
They could change the Duriel boss fight to completely kill RMT
Make boss materials not tradable (edit or a less severe step would be to only allow boss materials to be traded for other boss materials ONLY - so 1 mucous egg could be traded for one shard of agony (1 to 1 material enforcement).
Only players that have materials in their inventory get gear drops otherwise killing Duriel without summoning materials would yield zero drops (so selling runs would be pointless)
The number of rotations would be determined before Duriel spawns. So if there are 4 players with enough materials to summon Duriel 4 times - a screen with every players name and their material contribution would be shown. All players would have to click OK and all materials are spent at that time. Then Durial would spawn 4 times in a row
So you still keep the trade of yellows in game. But you eliminate RMT for boss runs completely by making it impossible to sell runs and sell mats
Blizzard can 100% kill boss run RMT without killing all trading
Yea but… I’m not competing, just playing. Anyway, whatever they do is fine with me; I don’t care for myself on this.
RMT changes the game, so it limits prospects just by doing that. Items that would be useful to trade stop being that, and those that still are will be greatly diminished in value. That’s not good for anyone.
Just have to improve the droprate of materials and boss items for the individual to a proportionate level and it won’t hurt.
Problem is that many like trade as a fun way to get together, and it’s not as if this game has many avenues for that.
Can’t be stopped, only slowed. Customers go away when it becomes inconvenient for them. There’s many moms and dads out there who RMT, just regular people. If you make it harder on them, they stop because it’s too much of a hassle. It won’t stop people that’s heavily into it though but that’s what the bans are for.
Let’s presume optimistically there are no exploits left (very big assumption) if that’s the case then the season 3 is duped material free and then it just becomes about paid carries, but then presumably the person doing the paid carries is already leading the leader boards due to it being their ‘job’?
I totally understand but not doing anything is not a good solution either.
It is not an easy problem to solve and perhaps ther is no full solution but partial steps might be helpful.
RMT is cancer of online games - and it 100% goes against the dev mantra “D4 will never have pay for power”. Sure it is not Blizzard adding pay for power, but the game clearly has pay for power via RMT Duriel runs/mats
So while Blizzard is staying true to their “D4 will never have pay for power” with cosmetics only cash shop, RMT is however 100% pay for power and is totally a part of D4 end game gearing for those players that are violating the TOS
