I’m just wondering as some games will reset/refund (for free) {including WoW} if a major change happens to a build and they massively change a spec/skill, will blizzard refund/reset our skill points for “free”?
I can guarantee you there is probably a chance that they might definitely do this, maybe.
If its truly game changing class re-works, I’d hope so. If its just a 5% nerf to one of the skills you use, I doubt it.
I cant help to think of anchorman movie hahha Brian Fantana : They’ve done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
Realistically any large changes like that will happen when a new season starts and most people are making new characters anyway. So I guess it will just depend if they worry enough about eternal realm characters to bother with it or not.
That’s something I said as well but then again we might get patch cycles at the same time as seasons so everything might be tested and there will most likely not be big patches that need a refund.
You know like Blizz always is, writing some patchnotes and if you don’t look up several content creatorrs you don’t know if the build you want to play is good or not .
For sure. Even PoE does this.
I think people overstestimate how much they will be fully respeccing once they begin to optimize their gear for a skillset with aspects and uniques. But individual skill respecs to fit to changing gear, now that I dont expect rising much to need regular resets.
my definition of “good” is fun, I dont need some snot nose youtube creator saying what build i should play since its tier x y or z.
That being said if I pick skill “z” and i am having 98% fun spamming z (which probably isnt as good as spamming x) but blizzard changes x to bring it down to z level, would my character get a full refund (even if I do NOT have/use x but have access to use x based on my class type)… I know that sounds confusing without actual names of skills. So to put context around it via WoW (since its a blizzard game), lets say I’m a hunter and I love BM spec, blizzard makes a change to marks spec that is game altering… would my character get a full reset of talent points in D4 (being a class that has access to that ability but actually not using it)
Nobody here can answer your question, and unfortunately Bliz only responds on tweeter instead of their own forums.
So the best you’ll get here is “probably”
It would probably happen on an expansion launch, when huge reworks tend to happen.
Dont forget you dont have 3 different skill trees here, where one might be nerfed into oblivion like in wow, and leaving one or the other more desirable.
You will still be operating the sole single skill tree, but swapping to a different skill at most.
I doubt it, but I could see it either way. Major changes like this would likely happen in the time between seasons and wouldn’t affect most people. The people not playing seasons will have tons of gold saved up.
Yes. Or more likely, they will have an NPC you can go to once per major change to respect.
Note that this will only happen for MAJOR skill changes. Not little things like +/-50% skill damage. Major things would be like removing cooldowns as a core mechanic of a skill or changing a skill from a basic skill to a core skill, etc.
If new skills are added to the skill tree, existing ones removed, or moved then it is possiblymaybepotentiallyplausibly going to come with a full respec for EVERYONE of that class that exists, automatically. When you login you’ll just have 0 skill points assigned.
If they just change what a skill does, then there’s littletonochance that you’ll get a skill tree reset.
As the vast majority of people will be playing seasonal and those changes will come with the season, it wouldn’t really matter anyway unless you planned on keeping that setup. In which case you would probably find it useful writing down what your build is so that you can go back to it if the changes didn’t impact you.
I imagine these changes would come at the start of new seasons. So the only place where such a refund would be applicable is non season. At which point you’ll have so much gold collected, a free respec would be laughably meaningless.
i dont think blizz still does that. or if they do theyre not consistent with it.
when they ruined outlaw rogue’s flow with fan the hammer nerf and modified the rogue talent tree they didnt reset my tree and i was stuck with a useless talent instead of cheat death for a whole raid before i noticed
that was maybe ~2 months ago.
I highly doubt it. It’s not like respec going to cost 1 million gold or anything. Paragon Board changes. Yeah that needs a free respec from blizz. ANY CHANGES to Paragon Board needs a free respec from blizz. Even if it’s a 2% nerf.
Every respec, not matter how big or small must be discussed as though it’s going to be in the most pessimistic circumstance possible. That’s how we have to talk about respec on this forum. Always the worst case possible.
