Wildheart Hunger Unique Boots - A Question

When you Shapeshift into a Werewolf or a Werebear, you gain Wildheart for 5 seconds. Wildheart grants you 1%-1.5% increased damage with Shapeshifting Skills every 2 seconds, stacking 20 times.

I found these(ptr obv) and tried them out.
Apparently they’re a ‘Quickshift’ item and appear largely useless incompatible with Tempest’s Roar and Insatiable Fury - any build that’s a Single Form.
Well useless for any build that doesn’t weave skills that frequently Shift form.

Am I incorrect on this?

Are there any builds where these would shine?
The DR% was nice and the Overpower…well that’s more geared towards Pulverize so…?

I just can’t really see much use for them.
DOA?
Crazy good and I’m just blind?

No you nailed it on the head. I have been playing with them and unique that makes our “passive form” state bear or wolf makes them not stack or stack clunkily. I dont think its functioning as intended. My assumption is the wording… “shapeshift INTO a bear or wolf”… so meaning when we go to our passive form the coding doesnt count that till we press the next shapeshift skill. I was hoping that returning to passive form would also count as “INTO”.

BLizz has done this kinda thing to druid before. Reference “lightening bolt”… Eventually they will clean this kinda stuff up for clarity.

Clunkiest item in the game.

So many issues with this item for so long. They should hotfix it.

The buff from it doesnt even display how long until it wears off.

You get CC’d and cant break it and you lose 20 stacks of the buff.

Great item design.

To be frank I also assumed it would be useful for true forms werebears or werewolves… I see how it can be used, but honestly the item becomes so specific that it loses its shine

They added it last season when they decided they were going to push shapeshifting builds. Problem is, no one likes shapeshifting builds because you have to constantly shift between bear and wolf to get the benefits. It’s tedious, boring, and frustrating. The best thing they could do for Wildheart is make it so it accrues stacks while you’re in any animal form and just drop the shapeshifting requirement altogether. We all know they won’t do that though because Druid is a meme over at the D4 department.

The boots are a net win, to me. I have made efforts to incorporate the boots into almost any build. Changing even 1 skill to be able to fluidly shift and get x60% is massive. Making sure they are in my landslide and cata builds was a game changer. In IH 7 or 8 and Pit 120+, you clearly see when your stacks fall off.

The skill window is increased, builds get more diversity, skill tree synergy increases, and a core component of Druid (shapeshifting) is encouraged. I love them.

My only recommendation to Blizzard would be to either (1) change the TR and VP helms and their respective chests to have the effect in one item, or, preferably, (2) change the chests away from “true form” and instead be the opposite of the helms - Bear or Wolf skills become another form to incentivize shapeshifting.
