I have a hard time figuring out why everyone loves twisting blades? It’s close quarters which sucks because I feel fragile already and now I’m in the middle of everything. Why wouldn’t you use one of the core bow skills with an imbument? What is so superior about Twisting blades. Maybe I don’t quite understand how to build my character. It is overwhelming to make the right choices when you are trying to pick skills & perks on the same playing field. Any insight is appreciated.
You need to stand in bursting venom pools for the poison imbuement resets and twisting blades had good lucky hit, hits multiple times with aspect, can daze or provide cool down, close quarter combat passive is the strongest…idk if you want to play rapid fire, do that. Two different builds.
I refuse to use TB because the physics of the attack make no sense, even in Diablo’s fantasy setting, and I hate any skill that doesn’t apply full damage on cast.
Flurry is a billion times more satisfying, although the damage doesn’t compare.
Flurry way more enjoyable.
People use it to abuse Pestilential Points and Bursting Venoms Aspects along with Posion Imbuement being bugged with TB aspect.
I don’t use bursting venoms or pestilent points and do just fine. I’d use flurry but it needs more single target DPS.
TB feels like a core skill one would use with another core skill. Like one point in TB just to have it go through people and either daze or lower cooldowns while you blast them from afar or tank with flurry stuns.
It’s a style of play. The bursting venoms is only useful against bosses and the rest of the time you move around avoiding getting hit. I had real trouble in higher level NM dungeons until I stopped trying to go toe to toe with mobs. I wish it was a little tankier but it is what it is.
Cause of the bladedancer bug, pen/RF is very close to it though.
My current build using a PC, Mouse, LC Penetrating shot, RC Rapid Fire, Key 1 Forceful Arrow, 2 Puncture 3 Shadow Im 4 Cold Im, Weapons with Core with Vulnerable and weapons swap, jewellery the same, only real defence is the armour and they are Uber’s with the exception of Chest. A lot of fun wiping things out with one shot. However Duriel need a help or its really drawn out.
Because Twisting Blades and Poison Imbuement are busted and do more damage than intended, so everyone’s been abusing it since Beta. There’s been a lot of excuses and denial, but at least the Devs finally admitted it during the live stream today and plan on actually nerfing it (again). It’ll be interesting to see if Blizz can actually succeed in nerfing all these broken builds so HOTA, Ball Sorc, Poison/TB, etc. aren’t the only builds in the game.
Nerfing the things that I like isn’t going to make me suddenly like ranged or charge more. What a silly concept.
If you like the actual build, then play it. The point is to make it viable along with everything else. But if you like just playing bugged builds then you’ll have to find another exploit or wait for the streamer bros to tell everyone the new flavor of the month.
I don’t know how many times I read “just follow Lucky’s poison build bro, it’s the best!” over the last 3 months…
I absolutely hate twisting blades but it seems to be the devs favored skill with flurry being the red headed step child sadly.
The mechanic for tb is horrible yet flurry gets no love
I can only answer for myself. It’s an extremely fun and novel mechanic. When the game launched, I made 10 characters - 2 of each class - tried most of the skills (if only briefly) until I narrowed it down to the most fun and viable builds. Across all 10 characters, Twisting Blades Rogue was the most fun, and also one of the most effective builds that I made for both DPS and survivability.
Being close quarters is a perk to me, but that’s just how I roll. I always like to get up close and personal. Survivability isn’t an issue - the Rogue can be extremely durable, in fact, it’s one of the main reasons I picked Twisting Blades Rogue to be the first character I took to 100 in HC. There are so many defensive options that you can become practically invincible.
For me, it’s just a matter of preference. I don’t like ranged. I like melee. Simple as that. I didn’t even realize until much later that Twisting Blades Rogue was one of the FotM variants - and my build is very different to the meta builds, focusing on survivability for HC, rather than maximizing damage.
Maybe you should try some build guides? I can’t recommend any, because I don’t use them - but if you’re genuinely curious to find the fun in it, maybe that’s an easy way to try it out. (Personally, I prefer to just “roll my own”, but there’s no harm in seeking other information and advice.)
Honestly? My advice is this: if you don’t like it… that’s all you really need to know. The beauty of D4 is that we have a good amount of choices both within each class, and between classes. Try everything, and find what you love!
D4 has some of the lowest build diversity of any Arpg I have played… what…
That’s the beauty of a game with choices and skill trees that are well balanced. If most of the skills in a tree aren’t viable or only some are viable for a 3 month period it’s kinda broken.
