Why these "announcements" keep aggravating players

Remember when the company that made ARK was still in early access… and then tried to sell a paid expansion before finishing the game?

I do, and I remember the sentiment felt at the time by a large part of the community and how not only confused but that it violated the consumer contract we had established in games for a long time. I didn’t buy it and have never played ARK simply from hearing about this at the time. And it put me off “early access” for a long time and have had less than 5 titles ever supported (dead cells is a slap).

So here we are with D4, you forced consumers into an even worse contract. You didn’t tell us we were paying for unfinished game, forced into early access… (still a nightmare state where most things don’t function or are broken). Steamrolling through seasons without fixing or addressing them was not a good look or feel. Packaging updates that should have shipped week 1 as season content… and then announcing paid content…

It’s very much the same feeling and approach. But somehow even worse and less ethical.

An old expression comes to mind. “Putting the cart before the horse”. A big reason I will not spend or play these products. Your ideology is wrong and your inability to make right on a very big rug pull before trying to scoop more money out of our pockets kind of seals the deal.

I’m sorry but no one made anybody buy the game. That’s capitalism.

Because the developers and company are so out of touch with their fans and playerbase, that really anything they say comes off poorly. Theyve forged this relationship over the last decade, and seem to really love to stick it to their traditional fan base with how their new products are presented and ill leave it at that.

Soon enough their big fanbase will have been alienated enough, and off to other games/devs, and maybe their new, smaller, customerbase will appreciate the things they try to do…

Like that developer plays D4 showcase really highlighted that the people making this game have zero in common with me, and dont even care enough about the game they make to use skills at all, let alone properly…

If they told me the game was unfinished and did not work. I would not have purchased it. Pretty sure there is a word for that…

I don’t understand how ppl keep claiming D4 is unfinished. It came with a complete story campaign and repeatable high level content. The game will be finished when they stop making content in 12 years. It’s been 3 months. I don’t want the game to be finished.

My dude, WIldcard before all the SnailGames issues, handle Ark like a champ.

Yes, was them selling a DLC before it leaving EA shady as hell, yes, they also were facing a massive lawsuit from their previous employer, and it was the only way to keep the lights on at WC.

My man, Jat and all the other devs were on top of game day in day out. They patched so fast, constantly engaged with the community, and actually listened.

Over the years, each dev would be in our mega-tribe discord, constantly talking to us, and handling issues that happened in real time. Literaly 4 am local, I could get a dev in our discord and handle DDoS attacks, Cheaters, Meshers, etc… and it would be fixed within minutes to hours depending on how bad it was.

Things went south when Snail Games took over, thats when things got real shady, and now full on shady. I have heard that WC may be trying to break their contract with Snail Games early with how they are releasing 1.5 and 2.0. But it just speculation right now.

THe other major thing Ark does that D4 has not even touched, is that Ark was massively massively fun. There is not a moment in that game, that you don’t have something do, or want to do, most of the issues with Ark revolve around politics, which both the best thing and worst thing about Ark. Most players that leave the game, end up doing so, because they are burnt out on politics.

And for each paid DLC for Ark, WC gave multiple Free DLC maps, which included new dinos, new engrams, bosses, etc… all for Free.

Really the only Blizzard level shadiness, that WC as a whole has done is he 1.5 and 2.0. But then again, there might be actual reason for, as a means to break their contract with Snailgames.

EDIT: and I will say, Blizzard devs should strive for the level of passion that WC put into Ark. WC dev team could hae rewrote the entirety of D4 base code by now, and Ark was the most spegetti code there is, but it worked. Ark is probaby the best case for a small dev team making a AAA quality game and providing live service for year on it.

it was out there, from November 2022 till release … so many information from so many people that the game is lame, empty, has no content … but no one listened

there was even free demo … 2 or 3 times i believe before release … many people defended the game that it was only level 20 and its not the endgame but also many people said, that there is literally zero difference between playing on level 20 and level 100 …

i know … i played last year and even this year and i was one of them trying to point the truth … but some people just yell more

Sure but you didn’t market it either. Not really your fault.

False. All closed beta testers were under nda’s and couldn’t share their thoughts on the end game until a WEEK before the game launched. Aka after everyone had already played for 2 hours and thus could not get a refund.

The often use and even more misquoted Nero fiddled while Rome burned comes to mind as a possibility as to why.

Let’s not forget the deceptive battle pass fiasco… how many times can you do things like this on “accident”?

It’s not an accident. Blizz doesn’t even care to try to be sly anymore. They’re straight up saying they don’t give a damn with how they treat this game and the community

Why these “announcements” keep aggravating players

Because some players like to pretend they’re dumb?

Dang, you got em good my guy.

The new crowd of the internet don’t really interact with the old crowd but the Friends of Bnet crowd in the underweb were discussing D4 a long time before launch abjectionist don’t conform.

When can I buy the game totally finished with all systems go? Like 5 years from now? What’s the point of playing the game right now?
