Why the XP Nerf though?

I can get over all the other changes, but why was this bit not brought up at all in ANY discussion streams. Feels so unnecessary to prolong getting to max level.

It is weird that their only solution to eliminating boosting was to nerf exp. gains for everyone, even solo players. Or maybe it’s not, blizzard doesn’t want anyone having any fun or clearing hard content it seems.

I think it’s to slow things down… not sure why, though. I don’t see any particular advantage for doing it. Maybe to have people play the seasons for longer?

Agreed. Bad move. Now I have to grind 10+ level monsters for less XP. 3 levels up was already hard enough on my weak sorc.

Which is weird to me because without good itemization there’s no reason to grind.

So now they are making the battle pass take even longer to finish and there’s no rewarding loot either…

because people were leveling too quickly and having fun which is not allowed in blizzard games and it was really hurting their retention numbers

so if they slow it down that kills two birds with one stone - game becomes less fun, and the remaining people play it for longer to get to the same place they did after launch

I’d wager it’s so people have to play their god awful dogwater season longer to complete it and thus if they’re in-game they’re more likely to buy something in the shop than if they aren’t playing the game at all. Which they probably won’t again after this garbage patch.

How else is Blizzard going to sell you the Accelerated Battle Passes each season?

I don’t think it was for boosting exclusively after giving it some thought. There’s so many boosting conversations within the community and they’ve never spoken against or for I think it’s a way to prolong the grind per character and thus making people play more.

It’s there to try to stop the powerleveling it has nothing to do with getting to max level and even if it has us play longer that is what we all bought the game for not to play it for 1 week every 3 months.

Why the exp nerf?

Because let’s say it takes you X time to get to 100 pre patch
Now it takes you 1.3x post patch
This increases your playtime by 1.3x in their eyes
This then increases the likelyhood you buy mtx by 1.3x

in all reality though, it increases uninstall rates by at least 1.3x

I’m assuming this is why:

Leaving the exp as is coupled with the exp increase through seasonal blessing would probably make lvling an absolute joke and Blizz didn’t want this.

xp you gain in game is not the same as the xp the battle pass levels with.

It’s obvious that Blizzard doesn’t understand that the reason why people were co-op boosting is the fact that leveling was agonizingly slow to begin with; making it slower isn’t going to prevent people from co-op boosting, in fact it will likely make it worse since they basically destroyed any chance of solo leveling at a reasonable pace.

the xp nerf was because it was too easy to level up, way too easy, just like the rest of the game. diablo 4 was slowly heading down a path that followed diablo 3 into the lands of face roll and creative mode arpg. glad that someone pulled the e-brake on that

They didn’t really nerf XP as much as XP leeching, glad that they did

Leveling too fast is not good for your health. Playing s1 for all 12 weeks about 2 hours a day means you make lvl 100 and had sooooo much fun

Surely, some of the unlocks will be tied to hitting certain milestones from leveling. How do you know there won’t be any of this?

It’s not just for power leveling is what I’m saying nincompoop. I disagree, if you can make reaching 80-90-100, the real endgame levels longer, people will play more and that’s a metric that is used in the gaming industry. It’s business but you wouldn’t think of it that way, you’re seething. I can taste it.

Exactly but these people are so triggered by blizzard they think it’s gonna be all about boosting and power leveling. This is bigger than that.
