Why the KFC promotion failed

I sacrificed my arteries for tier 1 of the chicken sandwich promotion, and can honestly say it was one of the sketchiest food ordering experiences I’ve ever had. I order via their app (which I immediately deleted) wait ~10 minutes and head to the local establishment, where they had no idea what I was talking about when I pulled up to the drive through window. which appears to be attached to the building with bailing wire. Then, they told me to pull around and wait in the back of the store, like I was buying drugs or something. Clearly they hadn’t started making my food, because I waited like 15 minutes in this shady parking lot behind an old broken down chicken shack. Food was good, though.

Sandwich: 8/10
Mac & Cheese: 7/10
Taters: 7/10
Cosmetic: 1/10

Just get me a cosmetic that looks like a butcher version of colonel sanders.

I say a lot of things people don’t like unfortunately. Whether I’m joking or serious is up to them to interpret but I’ll say this 90% of my posts are lighthearted fun and on the other side of this phone screen I’m smiling most times.

I don’t think it was this. It was lack of advertisement for it.

I bought the game and didn’t even know they were doing a promo at KFC. I literally didn’t find out until I went to eat there one night and saw a poster on the window.

Outside of that I never saw anything on TV, on the Bnet client, or anywhere else promoting it.

I didn’t even see the Megan Fox trailer until after I was already playing the game for two weeks.

We had some KFC/D4 billboards near me.

Yea nothing like that for me. Which surprises me because I live near Chicago. We have more highways and billboard’s than most other places in America.

It was good years ago

Sincere question: did it fail? I know some people that absolutely took part in it.

Honestly, I think the quality of KFC is irrelevant. Cross promotions (especially weird ones between unrelated products) are just only going to be worth the effort for the kind of people who enjoy that sort of thing.

The collectors who like chasing this kind of stuff are going to participate regardless, even if the food just goes into the trash, and the people that don’t care about tie ins aren’t going to make the effort. I think that would be true regardless of what restaurant or menu items they picked.

Personally, even if it was a restaurant I ate at, I don’t think I would have bothered. It was only for a specific menu item anyway, but mostly I think these kinds of promotions are weird. The cross promotion between Blizzard games at least kinda makes sense, and is appealing to a similar demographic (gamers) but what a chicken sandwich has to do with Diablo I have no damn idea.

I mean I feel like it did. I guess I can only say my perspective. I live in a major city. I never saw anything about it.

I watch TV, have Bnet open everyday, Blizzard has my email, and yet I never saw anything about it.

Like I said above I literally didn’t know about it until like 2 days before it ended by happening to walk into a KFC. I work down the street from one and get it for lunch occasionally at work.

Not like it really matters though. I am sure they will give the items away again in the future. Either in the shop or as a freebee for some event in game.

They do the same thing in WoW. They drop some cool exclusive reward. Then 2 years later turn around and put it into something else.

People were just freaking out awhile ago about them giving away Tyrael’s Charger in WoW for the D4 event because it was bought in the preorder for D3.

Come back and like this post in a year when they do it for me lmfao!

The future posts about these items will be about how it’s unfair because they were exclusive items!

I think people are just becoming immune to FOMO, activision has been using this predatory practice to milk consumers so long I think people are starting to not really care.

Not to mention d4 is a very very bad game right now

It failed cause it wasn’t Taco Bell.

Get the new limited edition Hellfire Taco now and get a free weapon taco skin in Diablo IV!

always find it funny they went with KFC…

they missed out on Taco Bell…they literally have a “diablo” hot sauce flavor…they could’ve made a Lillith all-black loco taco… lol

It was specifically targeted towards a specific demography which to me is the most grotesque form of marketing, sickening, period end of story.

You have more in common with the creators of D4, than you realize.

That sauce is awesome.

Only way to live. I kind of pity anyone that’s miserable daily.
