Ive never understood this. In the past you trudge through the dungeon floors, at the end is the boss. No mats just replay the dungeon. I feel like the farming for materials mechanic overly complicates gameplay and makes it more of a chore and less fun.
Boss summoning mats are here to give player a purpose to engage in different world activities.
Maybe its just me but i find collecting mats to do the stuff I want to do boring and tedious.
These bosses got not dungeons sadly.
Would be nice to use these bosses for some Mega Dungeons though.
I understand you, but without effort there is no value. Its a tough job to balance things out by developers. How to make rewards feel rewarding.
Mats are a form of currency, a token for slot machine called âTormented bossesâ.
I enjoy hunting down mats for summoning bosses. I actually wish there were more ingredients needed to collect and summon a boss. I donât believe in âjust press a buttonâ and a uber boss appearsâŚhow brain dead is that?
THIS! Theyâve replaced creativity and replay value with repetitive currency to fight the same copy pasted âbossesâ over and over and over.
If I recall correctly, this started with Diablo 3 and Rifts along with Torment levels.
IMO it would be much more fun and rewarding to replay the campaign bosses at higher levels (you canât replay the D4 campaign without starting a new character), at least getting the story and excellent campaign at a higher challenge with higher rewards, would be nice.
Itâs a throttle to keep people from progressing too fast by speed farming bosses. And as other have said, they are pretty set on making people do all kinds of content and not just pick the single most efficient thing and running it until burnout.
Yaâll crack me up.
Since D4 introduced a new content called target farming Uber unique in Season 2, all content is created around mats as reward. This is to ensure players continue play the game for meths. Sorry I mean mats
donât forget with sb once boss is summoned itâs âjust press a buttonâ and a uber boss disappearsâŚhow more brain dead is that?
Thatâs the way it should be. Give me a dungeon to crawl and fight the boss, not waste my time picking up trash to throw in a pot. They probably did it to slow you down because there are pitifully low amounts of uniques to actually farm, especially with targeted loot
let me get this right, you wanna able to fight the uber boss without cost???
Dungeons still have bosses.
The ones that require summoning materials are called Lair Bosses. This is additional content.
Summon materials might as well not exist anymore. They have been duped for so long and so much that you can join practically any group and there will be someone just spamming their infinite materials over and over again because itâs quicker than establishing a rotation.
At this point, Iâd be fine if there was just 1-3 mats for ALL bosses. I am tired of them giving tabs for components that wonât fit in these tabs, etc.
I disagree though in that I think there SHOULD be a mat cost to engage with these bosses. I just donât think there needs to be like 20 different mats for it.
On the other hand, obol gambling is now a better way to target farm ancestral uniques anyway soâŚ
UGH
To slow you down by forcing you to do other things. The longer you play, the more likely youâll pay.
Building a decent thematic and interesting dungeon for each boss is probably just too much work for them.
Much easier to just give players an endless treadmill to drip feed mats which simultaneously makes progression feel less organic.
You do not need understand itâŚthis is simple: Blizzard does everything to keep you playing. Tha`ts the business plan created for this game.
If you do not play - you leave gameâŚif you leave game you start play other game (big chance it will be competitive companyâŚetc, etc
