i’m tired of this, sorc has never been good except in season 2 (thanks to a bug ball lightning did a lot of damage) and season 5 (lightning spear was good for 2 months and was immediatly nerfed after)
in both cases there were only 1 good build for sorc, all the others sucked

Ahh yes, Super Dee Duper Ball Lightning… those were the days…
We should wait until season 7 starts and see how the Sorcerer performs, I say
i loved that season, i named my sorc ballfondler and she was the bomb, i still remember killing the ice beast when it was still in the air falling down to spawn in. so funny!
lighting for me is the best elemental a sorc can wield, visually sparks and bolts just are so much eye candy over a snowball or firepit

that season we also had abbattoir of zir, not to mention vampiric powers and the fact that tempering and masterworking werent there

was sorc really op in d2? I only played d2r for abit and while insta teleporting is pretty wicked, my paladin was able to duplicate that by building out some armor with rune things and it was crazy op
The first 5-8 years was the cold Sorc… they took all the loot with fast teleports…
Then came the nova Sorc this one only last about 4 years… but PvP was never the same. Even with my white rings .08 arkaines valor and my gloves of windforce.
Finally the Hydra Sorc came to be. PvP, Ubers and everything was theirs. Even my double runewords no good against her…
My teleport? Lol!

Lightning sorc is pretty strong too. Most enemies (aside from the double immunes, lightning enchanted on a mob that’s naturally immune) can have their lightning immunity stripped away by infinity merc.
Now thanks to sunder charms, fire went from being the worst to the best because it doesn’t care if a mob has 200 fire res (which most fire immune mobs have).

Ball lightning was one thing, but as soon as we got lightning spear people were complaining that it was too good and needed to be nerfed, which they did.
My Meteor build still works, shockingly.
Sorcs were disgustingly op in D2. You would NEVER touch my friend’s Teleport Sorc.
Because of the half arsed effort they put into class balance.
Classes in D2 were fairly balanced. That’s why the pvp was so much fun and made the game stay active for as long as it has. That and completely open trade with a healthy market, longer seasons, etc.

Well S7 is attempting to bring back lightning sorc
They will probably have a massive bug in ball lightning build again that will make sorcs tier SS. Bliz does not know how to learn from mistakes.

I fixed it for you.
I had plenty of fun on sorcerer in S5… no lightning spear build. I went from fireball to chain lightning and it was a blast. (Pun achieved)
The only effort given to class balance is to manipulate statistics to make themselves look good to superiors (who are clueless about games) and keep their jobs. It’s about ego and profit, nothing more. Even knowing that I wouldn’t call it effort. This will continue until they look at us as players rather than ATM machines.

You’re in luck ! D4’s junior dev team and the Furg have chosen ball lightening as the new meta for season 7 ! It’s clear because they released the ball lightening sets…ermmm I mean Uniques to get you started. How clever !
Just be sure to play season 7 early ,as the new build will inevitably be nuked into orbit after a game breaking “bug” is discovered , rendering it useless.

S5 lightning spear sorc was very strong and nice too
Unfortunately I started in S3 hence no idea anything prior
They suck because the devs have designed it to be so, they are insanely obsessed with making SB class the only viable class
