Why so many weapons drop, but never gear?

Simple question.

There are 10 item slots.

8 are for armor.
1 is for weapon
1 is for offhand.

Why are 80%+ of drops weapons? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

The worst part is that all gear dropped is for a different build that you’re running.
For every char, most of gear on the ground I cannot use bc don’t fit my build.
They at least could help us to drop gear for our build…if I’m running blood build i just see gear for bone build. Ffs.

Using Druid? There’s a bug with that IIRC.

And unpopular opinion: I miss the variation of pre-smartloot times. Both because of not getting the same pieces again and again, and also because the alt-friendlyness that encouraged you to try other stuff. Needless to say that it would be impossible with the current storage space.

No, playing Necromancer… most drops are weapons and i’d probably say 90%+ of drops have strength on them. All useless.

Rng jesus isn’t kind

Most likely because weapons increase your player power far more than a piece of gear. You would have to get a synergizing legendary to get a comparable increase in power. So if your level scaling system keeps increase mobs health and damage and the player is only receiving a certain amount of drops.

Giving the player weapons would help them close the gap quicker than a bunch of gloves or pants.

I actually started to develop some conspiracy theory feeling.
Every time i made a build, i got item drops and legendary drops supporting way other kind of skills and builds. And when i had enough and changed my build to the skills i got constant drops to, i started to get item drops for my already scrapped previous build. Like it was intentional from the game’s side.

Ouch!

No idea then, I’m sorry.

Yup. This is the correct answer which I also gave in the Necro forums to the same question.
