Why so few save points?

So I am loving this game so far, but I gotta ask: why so few save points?

For an online-only game that brings all the pitfalls of online play, both on the server side and user side, I am really surprised that there are not more save points. This is one thing I felt Diablo 3 got right in comparison. Granted, it could have probably even been better in D3 but D3 was better than D4 in this regard.

I personally get very uncomfortable with marathon gaming. Perhaps it is my age (early 30s) but my vision and body are just not what they used to be. Staring too long at the screen hurts my eyes, andis prone ot giving headaches and sitting for long times is not ideal ergonomically or for one’s health especially with a corporate desk job too.

It’s just weird that the game overall has gone in a direction to encourage people with disposable income - a demographic with more mature people (or the very young I guess) - but then the game is hostile to their lifestyle and needs as far as gameplay goes.

Playing solo in the world but want to take a break and go for a 30 minute walk/do chores/play with kids/some cliche and there is a good chance you lose your progress. That is, if you haven’t DC’d or crashed first.

Love this game. More save points in the future please.

I am confused about the comparison with Diablo 3. That had no save points either. If you left game for any reason, your current session resets. Any bounties in progress, rifts, etc.

Diablo 4 seems to be the same way. If you exit game you will appear back in town with your current progress reset. If you were doing a quest, that quest gets re-set back to the most recent save point.

The 30 min break you refer to, is not something D4 supports. Like most of Blizzard’s games there is an AFK timer of around 15 mins that auto logs you out.

If you are doing any major quests, just get to one of those save points before exiting to do IRL stuff

Yes, I also found that out the hard way. Had to start a Campaign quest again.

If you hit leave game and let the timer tick down, you’ll log back in where you logged out.
