Why people play on eternal realm?

Speaking of ER are they adding the Vampuric(sp?) Stuff on ER or just for season 3?

There are many valid reason to play eternal.

Dont have to worry about gold as you are probably rich.
Dont have to worry about souls as you probably have alot.
Dont have seasonal powers so more challenging.
Dont have as much time and dont want to start over each season.
Sometimes seasons are a big miss. You are not missing much on S3 for example.
You have friends that only play on eternal.

You do know farming helltides with a near complete build with the aspects you need and glyphs lvl 15 will speed this process up right?

I met a guy who just threw whatever he had in his stash on and no build, random paragon points and hardly any glyphs complaining the game is too hard in WT4…

I dont believe there are people this casual but they exist I guess. Point is, do helltides and level quick from 80-100. Dont bother with NMD/vaults, if you do dont do any that have mobs higher than 10 lvls above you.

The best leveling I think it the seasonal zone next to the malphas spawner in bear tribe refuge. You get tons of stones and items and xp. There is a event next to it as well. ppl always there at least they were awhile back not sure now as I semi retired.

Mainly mentioning helltides due to people only ever playing eternal in these cases… I mean really… The dude thinks its gonna take 100 NMD’s to level from 95 to 100

The seasonal content is a joke. These types of games aren’t really congruent with this type of seasonal formula. The concept of releveling a character over and over tens to hundreds of times just isn’t that popular. Sure, thousands of people might enjoy that, but not hundreds of thousands. Honestly, these games aren’t really great for the whole MMO-esque trade market either. They are much better and easier to balance with small friend groups or within online communities. Seasonal BS has done nothing but hinder this genre.

I also made is big mistake. I saw a youtuber had 4 paragon fields. But for some time i only had werebear spec and was putting all points in there, untill i spended points in the gate and discovered i could select a second paragon field. I got greedy and selected 2 more but coundn’t fill it useful. But i removed the 3th field. Now i have enough points for 3 fields with the most useful traits. I know about the glyphs but they are all 3 green for now.
After i discovered the paragon thing i instantly got alot stronger.

If i remember i did the dungeon to unlock world tier 4 on lvl 68 or lvl 70. It was a very hard fight to the end boss. I have tried the dungeon before on early lvl 60 i did an hour to reach the end boss. I recorded it and uploaded it to youtube. I could kite and kill the pre bosses with boulder druid and evade their wind attack. Was very hard. But end boss was impossible.

So at lvl 68 i unlocked world tier 4. It was hard and a challanging in t4 helltide. But i could not accept lesser equipment. So i stayed there. Much frustration often. But it made me stronger. I also got mostly werewolf items while i was a werebear. I got a very nice lvl 80 unique werewolf weapon that makes claw a storm skill and does storm strike with attack. I tried wolf before but died too often so i used bear. But now i can kill everything in helltide. Even de bug tank. But that is a 10 minutes fight solo so i skip it now.

I only hate poison damage on me. Cost me many potions.

I forgot to say i am lvling in helltides again. 1 nightmare was around 800k xp while in helltide i once got more then 3 million. In a short time. Not the whole hour. Also legions is nice. But not if lvl 100s one shot everything. Also i always have a 5% xp elixer up.

To be fair I had my time in S0 with no powers or whatever, was easy back then, it’s easy right now. But I guess they never designed this game to be hard.

Nothing wrong with that

Is different cause every season they add new powers and my personal way to have fun is to restart and grow my favourite class in different ways. I also like to play along with my friends and I do like when cities, helltides and event zones are full of people, even if u choose to play alone u can always count on strangers help if u find yourself in need. Or if u want to share extra materials / extra exp. Does it make the right way to play this game? Nope, it is my way to fully appreciate this game.

Not sure if u are talking about forum or the game itself, btw I’m not playing right now and I found something else to be passionate about. Ofc I’m waiting new updates so in the meanwhile I chill on the forum and see community feedbacks and general needs for the future patches. Is that wrong?

I might have used wrong words here, what I meant is if u can’t finish seasonal content due to lack of time seems odd to ask new features that maybe u can’t even play. Again… if devs don’t listen to eternal population… does it affect me? nope. Do I want to know reasons behind it? Yes, out of curiosity!

true :joy:

also omega true

I have not, but it’s just me. Another reason why I personally don’t stick to eternal, I do enjoy play new seasons with my friends :stuck_out_tongue:

Eternal will get whatever it is that they decide to do with the Vampiric power just like it did with the Malignant powers.

Seasons are the testing realm where they try stuff out to gauge player reaction to it and to see how it fits in the game, Essentially they are Beta testing the content. Then they decide how they can add it to the core game. Eternal is the core game with none of the experimental frills that are being tested on Seasonal.

That is why I have said that Seasons are the PTR for Diablo 4. The devs told us all that this is how it would be even before seasons released.

IMO there are two reasons to play seasons over Eternal. First, you want to get your hands on the newest content asap and do not mind dealing with bugs, glitches and untested content to experience something new. So, it is kind of like you are playing a new version of the aRPG every 3 months. Second, you are the type of person who enjoys racing through the game to try to Lvl to 100 asap and that is how you believe aRPGs are meant to be played.

All of the core content is available on both realms.

Helltides are good for leveling. Maybe not as good as the Blood events were is season 2 but still really good. However, I find that the place where I gain levels the fastest are Legion events. Pop an Elixir, use Incense and stand by the campfire prior to the start and watch your experience bar go up once you start killing things. Typically, I will then jump from there into an active Helltide to use up my remaining boost. I gain levels in chunks doing that. The only problem is: the Legion events do not happen all the time.

The seasons are actually tiring the players out. As it is much more difficult to gain a level and the fact that there is no feeling of progress, players become exhausted having to redo everything again and in the end have nothing in return. The state of diablo 4 is exactly this! Lack of character evolution, lack of builds and varied items, mechanics of legendary items in general only increase attack and defense with certain mechanics of killing x enemies for y time. The game is generic in everything! There is nothing interesting to do.

In D3 you had 10 days or so of off-season to play “eternal” between seasons. D4 new season starts right as old season ends. So for me there really is zero reason to play eternal. Some days I play a little, some days I play double digit hours. Probably average 4-5 hours a day. More than enough to complete seasons so that’s what I do.

This game is too new. In D3 way back in the day, there wasn’t any reason. Even PL were capped sort of. It was hard to grind them.

D4 needs some type of end game grind that moves into non season chars.

I mean it needs an end game grind that isn’t Duriel. Last season I was a BL sorc, no reason to need any uber as I was so OP, so my time investment wasn’t there for Duriel. I ran maybe 50 in the whole season and my non season char still has a ton of mats to run it because I just didn’t find the chase exciting.

Why did you waste 471 hours on something that won’t matter next season? You just wasted all that time. Maybe you should figure that out first before you question why others do what they do.

Being a new-ish player, I play on Eternal Realm so I can see what the “default” experience is like. However, I’m also one who will only ever play a game whenever I want to do so as opposed to whenever some developer wants me to do so. In that regard, I don’t usually participate in “seasons” or “battle passes” unless they’re a permanent addition that I can enjoy at my own personal leisure.

Once an ARPG accumulates lots of seasons, the ‘Eternal Realms’ morph into this cool archive of collected powers. Most long term players are too over geared for any content to be challenging, but its great for the power fantasy aspect.

And if some super OP seasonal items leak into the eternal realm, eventually those items become truly legendary. Something you either had to be there to get or trade for. A relic of the… 14 months ago.

I play 99% on seasonal though. For the 1% I spend on eternal I’m combining all the gear I’ve gathered into some experiment that will go badly.

For some people games are a waste of time. It’s just pixels, right? So does it matter if I play eternal or seasonal? Does it matter if I pay for digital content that doesn’t give me something real? What’s the whole point here?
What is your point?
This is Diablo IV forum, we all are players here. If u want to answer I’m glad, if u don’t… whatever?
Do I have to repeat myself 1000 times just because u guys can’t accept that sometimes a thread is just a thread and a question is just a question without some form of judgement or troll behind ?
Jeez.

As u can see this one answered, I’m glad! Thank you!

and thank you!

you could say it’s a casual thing, meaning ppl who play 1 to max 3 hour’s a day, in eternal there is no rush to get lvl 100 fast (no 3 month time limit).

I dunno. D1, D2, D3, really didn’t have this problem. They also included the DIABLO boss that you could fight. D4 though advancements have been made, all the the parts that made D1-D3, viable for players who can’t commit to more than 5 hrs a week have vanished. Along with the Boss that you could fight that the 4th game in the series was named after (this isn’t Diablo 4, it’s Lilith 1).

Guess it’s just another miss-step by executives and lead developers who’s vision for the franchise has been clouded and overshadowed by their salary. Put in the time, collect the pay… who cares about the rest.
