Why only 6 slots?

2 of those are literally left and right click, so it’s really 4.
Give us 1 more for ult.

Considering that there is an affix that gives +1 rank to random skill, I wouldn’t be opposed to having 1 more skill slot. If nothing more than to experiment or have some more utility. I could live without it though. I am used to D3 and D4 having 6 skill slots. Any changes to this would probably increase damage output for all classes. The damage doesn’t need to become insane like D3.

remove slot restrictions entirely.

let people do what they want with the skills available to them, without being forced to prioritize one over another.

i would even go as far as to say: remove cooldowns on EVERYTHING and increase resource cost to compensate.

there, now the game just became 20x more fun and allows for a lot more creativity of build variety.

I made a post about this recently.

Nah, 6 is perfect, more doesn’t mean better

one of the other best upcoming ARPGs has 5, works fine

The bare minimum should be 10 slots. Counting the last two taken up by mouse clicks, and of course another by your chars Ultimate. Which should not take up a hotbar slot.

It appears to be bad UI design. Not due to Console as FFXIV has console support and dozens of spells and actions. Yet that game has three rows of hotbars with 12 slots. No problem.

I guess 666 slots, get it?

Why do you feel it needs more than 6 skill slots?

D2 is not a valid reason. What advantages do you see from having more than 6 slots?

the DMG is already insane. My barb was putting up 2.5k crits at lvl 20

Its limited because there are abilities that chain from cooldowns. (Proccing a cooldown skill, allows other cooldown skills to reduce)

Meaning, if you have 20 skill slots, and you slot every skill with a cooldown-type ability, and you spam ALL your cooldown skills, that would be ridiculously overpowered. Ice sword sorcerer is a small example of this.

Long story short its because they’ve added features in the game where having more than 6 slots would make certain builds OP.

try playing necromancer, druid or barb and then come back and tell me 6 slots is enough.
its garbage arbitrary limiting no-fun-allowed factor that has no place in a diablo game, just like the concept of cooldowns don’t have a place in a diablo game.

this isn’t WoW or a MOBA game, this is diablo. the whole appeal of the franchise is to break the game and make it your b**** after grinding that god-mode build you’re going after.

is it confirmed its 6 end game? I was holding out hope you unlock slots after Veteran II and get to lvl 50

but that was after gearing out with full legendaries and optimizing your build. that normally wont happen until you reached max level. I would rather have 2.5k crits than a 999k crit.

Well… first of all, you would likely actually choose to use ultimate skills if you had more than 6 slots of space.

secondly, items that give +1 to all [skill type] would be less redundant as you now have space for more than 1 of each category.

what advantages do you see from having strictly 6 and no more?

6 slots is enough

What amount of pressabke buttons would be better for a diablo game?

What? I use an ultimate now. Not every skill is useful for endgame so there’s an illusion of choice.

There’s been CDs in diablo since D2

And 6 slots has been a thing since D3 and limited slots are a thing in many other popular arpgs (as well as cds)

Limitations are part of making a build.

My d2r hardcore barb used about 10-12 skills. so did my sorc* d2r hardcore

-blizzard
-fireball
-teleport
-call to arms (2 or 3 separate shouts)
-static
-town portal scroll
-energy shield
-frost shield
-probably forgetting something

this is a (mostly) single player pve arpg, what exactly is the problem with “being overpowered” ??
pvp??
pvp in diablo is a meme and it will always be a meme.
this is not world of warcraft, league of legends or dota2, being overpowered has no impact on anyone else, and it allows the player to live out the power fantasy which is the entire appeal of the diablo franchise.

name 1 ability in diablo 2 that has a cooldown. go ahead.
