I don’t understand why you have to shut down the server a short time before the expected time to ensure the update when the version is updated. You can shut down the server 3~5 hours in advance to ensure that the new version is launched at the expected time.
In this way, you can completely ensure that steam players have enough time to update the new version before the expected time, and also minimize the losses of pre-download players.
When the time comes, you announced that in order to ensure that all players can play the new version at the same time, a decision to postpone it was made.
If one player doesn’t update, will you never open the server? You can’t guarantee that everyone will be online at the first time. It’s a bad decision.
If anything, they should just never sell on Steam again.
i think no problem with selling, but shouldn’t wait, because the lack of pre-download is Steam’s problem. Other players shouldn’t pay for the Steam platform. Steam players who really want to be online as soon as possible will complete the download in a dozen minutes at most when updating.
at this point, i think steam players are further ahead in updating than bnet launcher players, cause the bnet launcher refuses to officially install the update.
So I think it‘s better to shut down the server early to ensure the update, so that the game can be online at the announced time. Another game I play will be shut down server 10 hours before the update
Closing the server early before it happens is more acceptable to players than delaying the update.
I’m honestly just so confused.
It’s like they wanted to avoid datamining or something. A lot of WoW xpacs or updates are just preinstalled and unlocked live, seamlessly. So it’s a bit odd that D4 doesn’t follow the same method.
ff14 has some maintenance cycles that are 24hrs or longer, and people and people are fine with it, cause they warn the players ahead of time and people make plans to do other games together during that time.
