It was already identified that ancestral drop rate of **-ancestrals and ***-ancestrals is too low. Blizzard agreed and announced that ancestral drop rate will be increased.
But I wonder: WHY does Blizzard not do that immediately? It would be an adjustment of one or few parameters at most. This can be easily done in a little patch.
Why should we wait weeks or months for this? There is no reason to wait for a patch to be released with changes that are already decided, when it improves the game and when it is easily doable.
So Blizzard, please increase ancestral drop rate NOW!
They won’t do it. Most likely they’re afraid there will be backlash from people who spent time and/or gold and/or cash to get their items with the current drop rates and are mad that someone else might get similar items with mildly less effort… or they don’t want to risk tweaking numbers and then have to fix everything they break… or they don’t want to deal with the process of making changes before next season because low effort… or they’re busy playing PoE2.
Speaking as some one who is already done with the season, and wouldn’t come back even if this was implemented now, I’m all for it. Put in these changes now so you aren’t fixing them later when the patch actually hits.
Also Hex more fun in the other game for the stream tonight. Going to try to get past Act 2.
They could literally do this internally and at any moment in time. Having given us absolutely nothing else and knowing we still have nearly two months before the release of season 7, any team with half a brain would do it now, especially if they’re going to do it anyway.
However, I guess they’re holding us at gunpoint with the “return in season 7 for better drop rates” which just shows how terrible this team is and how much they all need to be fired.
Crazy, the POE2 devs on day three of early access addressed the community concerns of drop rates and hotfixed it server side just today.
The ancestral drop rate in this season has been absolute trash, good luck getting that ancestral amulet with the passives you want unless you have 20 billion to spend.
The metrics they need to show won’t allow them to make the change. To them it is in line with what they want in the game to maximize short term profits. What their metrics do not show is 95% of the ancestral drops are either jokes per 5 seconds or healing rerolled. The bloated affix pool and too few drops make it pointless to the player. Complexity doesn’t make a game better. Very poor design to start and poor decisions afterwards.
They are leaning towards a D3 model for loot. In D3 the equivalent Ancient Legendary drops alot more often and when it does it is rarely not an upgrade to the existing item. Often there is an acceptable trade-off admittedly. This is what they are not able to figure out sadly.
One of the major problems that players have been experiencing is feeling that the game is not rewarding enough. This is an area that we have to be very careful when adjusting because it’s very hard to reduce drops if we increase them by too much.
*ahem, remember S2 blood harvests? good times, good times.
