Why no trading uniques?

It’s like the devs forgot that Diablo is a trading game at its core.

Someone wants to RMT.

They did not forget. They also did not forget all the third party websites that sell items for real money, steal accounts, steal financial information, etc.

The best items are rewards for playing the game, not buying things. Yes, that impacts some group play with friends, but the alternative is worse.

Now, if only they would make gold account bound.

Why does a website matter though?

They made a game where you play in a bubble. So if they were to allow trading it would not affect the people who it would annoy.

Its been known what you could trade and what not for months. Uniques arent tradeable, that wont change. Its bad enough already that gold is tradeable, the bots will be everywhere spamming all chats.

I feel like removing trading removes a huge part of the game.

Like if you remove all professions from an MMO.

In d2, bartering low level goods could eventually get you rich enough to get great gear without needing to farm.

Now with that removed, d4 is just 1 of a million mobile games where you invest massive amounts of time for small upgrades.

The real money auction house was pretty great tbh. It just unfortunately was tested using an incredibly crappy itemization set.

Bring that back if they are concerned about security.

Really not a good argument against trading imo.
Those bots are basically spamming “BAN ME PLEASE!”, so maybe Blizzard should plain and simply do what they are asking for.
At 70 bucks per copy hiring 5-10 people to just sit ingame and swing the banhammer all day long should not be an issue - those employees would only need to make like 1 ban every few hours to pay for themselves and could probably do 30 per hour easily.

Right there is the problem. Bans will come in waves like in D3, with that in mind you’ll get your chat spammed constantly for several weeks/months before they all get banned, then buy another copy and back to square one.

No, i dont have a crystal ball to know what blizz will do but keeping in mind previous experiences it’ll be that… If they do anything at all.

Sigh
Another ‘let me use my hoarded JSP fg and RMT to gain unfair advantage over others’ thread.

You know what, I’d love to use hero editor, please let me use it, it won’t affect those who don’t want to use it, they can play without it, it is not competitive game anyway bla bla…

Trading should be limited to insignificant things between strangers (low level crafting mats / herbs / ore). But between people in the same party, it should have the same rules as D3 (if it dropped while they were in the party, it can be traded to them).

Anything more open than that just encourages botters / RMT.

Sorry you will never be BIS by using your wallet.

Because RMT can go F itself that’s why

Good riddance to trading, not needed.

Couldn’t agree more on this. With it being tradeable we will more than likely see the pesky gold sellers. However, it will be interesting to see how Blizzard responds to them, and I hope they react quickly. Gold selling was rampant in D3, until finally they said no more trading / dropping gold.

There are ways to hinder the process, but i feel there will always be something in the game that will be utilized for “gold selling”

It means that every single account that has tradeable/sellable items on it becomes a target for the criminals who run those shady websites. Sadly, people do click on malware, take phishing bait, etc.

It means that the person you PvP against may not have honestly gotten their items. That the leaderboards in seasons are not accurate reflections of player RNG.

It is not changing.

I can tell you now that account compromises went WAY down after that went away and trade was limited. D3 accounts have almost no real world value because you can’t trade with them/strip them and sell things from them. It leaves services, which are also against the terms of use, but most people don’t bother because it is easy enough to do without help.

You are not getting the ability to make real money off Diablo 4.

They didn’t forget, they rightfully chose not to add it.
Even PoE sucks for that very reason, that all the Leaderboard characters have bought their items and didn’t personally commit any time to getting them themselves.

We don’t need that, the character you make, will be yours and yours alone, it won’t be due to someone else’s luck and time. Which is fair. No shortcuts.

The game isn’t even out but the gold selling sites are.

Too bad you can’t buy BIS gear with gold then.

no, it’s a farming game at it’s core
it’s like people who can’t “play” without doing RMT and P2W forgot that you actually have to play to get equipments :stuck_out_tongue:
you know ? actually killing monsters to get loot ? weird heh ?

exactly that.

they said that the best items should be acquired by playing the game.
it should never be obtainable through RMT or trading thousands pebbles from a lower difficulty for it.

and i also don’t know why they made gold tradeable , it’s a absolute non-sense, hopefully they’ll see why it should be untradeable as soon as they see the thousands of ads bots it will create even in week 1 and week 2 like it did on D2R.

Trading affects the game more then one class doing more then 50% more dmg then the rest. Not everyone plays a specific build. Character fantasy etc.

Trading becomes the single most important thing in the game.
Trading is how you get your items. Why? Because the drop rates and resources are or will be balanced around it. Playing the game to be a demon killing badass and having fun (aka thinking that your time investment will lead to you getting loot) is second to efficient trading.
