I see no reason why there shouldn’t be one. What they said about immersion it’s just wrong, because you cannot get sucked up into the world if you spend your time reading pointers on a map.
I see tons of reasons why we don’t need it.
I’ll give you at least one.
Who gives a fk about overlay map if we have a minimap, on top of the fact that overlay map completely obscures the gameplay. And since the game looks great, I don’t want to be forced to use overlay map (since, if introduced, would be superior to minimap).
And no, I don’t wanna hear “you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to” excuse.
You have minimap, you have world map. It works fast and easy.
Plus the dungeons is simplified. People couldnt handle a bit of complexity.
Exactly. People want these days to be held by hand from point A to point B cause they be afraid of what, loosing the track?
What the hell. Just look on minimap, world map and look at the game, instead of frigging lines of overlay map.
I mean, if you ever need an overlay map, I wonder how will you find your way to closes buss stop. D:
I am not saying you are not wrong for not wanting it, I am just asking why some other people who want it should not get the option to. I mean the overlay map was introduced by Blizzard and used in every game ever since…some games even made a mesh between both.
Im glad I am not the only one hitting tab sometimes and being disappointed no map comes up.
In the diablo setting this is going to take some getting used to. But other games do this and with release so close its going to be something we have to accept as different for dibbles4
I don’t want them to add it because then I’d have to use it or be at a disadvantage, and it does obscure all the lovely artwork of the game.
I miss it but I found that using the pin function and following the red line on the minimap is actually vastly superior, it’s like driving and using GPS, instead of just moving on a map.
Using the pin function allows for exploring side paths without needing to bring up the map again as the red line adjusts to get you back on the shortest route to your destination too.
No overlay because they designed the game and decided they didn’t want to add it in, not because they were too lazy to put one in or something. They instead went with a map system where you can drop pins and navigate to places without staring at a map covering your entire screen all game. It’s not coming back
Ooo you are so wrong :))…Give them a bit of time and the overlay map will be an option…don’t worry.
Well they gave a handful of reasons when asked, but the big one that matters, that trumps them all…
Because they said so.
Devs are too lazy to do it. Even though it’s an ARPG staple.
Because the developers don’t want to make a Diablo clone, they want to make an isometric MMO
You people don’t seem to understand what that acronym means. There’s nothing “massive” about 12 person instance limits.
I know what MMO means. But the way devs are handling hub areas and chat bubbles and what not reeks of MMOs.
İmo The reason they didnt include a map overlay is that the cosmetics wouldnt look as good
And since they are planning to make money by selling cosmetics …
I didn’t need it when i was enjoying betas. QUick Tab and i was fine.
ahah one of the best answer
this is actually so sad…
D2 dungeons were awesome.
D4 dungeons are a square.
Developers mentioned that they wanted to keep combat and navigation seperate, to make activities more clearer and less cluttery, but honestly i’m starting to see a whole different issue with this, some players like myself are having to tab constantly to open up the bigger map and see where to go, even with the pin feature i am still having to tab and tab and tab. This would be so much better if I just had a map overlay on the screen while im traveling and in combat. If the devs are so worried about players wanting to have a clearer combat just gives us the option to toggle the map overlay on and off, give players the freedom to either have it on while in combat or off in combat. Let us play our way. There’s literally no reason for someone to be against this, if it becomes a thing in D4 its 100% going to be an optional feature, no one’s going to force you to use the map overlay, go ahead and continue using the current map system.
I would kinda agree with their reasoning for not doing it and am willing to see if it helps with immersion, however if it doesn’t work or work as how they intended it to be (removing map overlay), they should include it back into the game. Also, I would like some mouse cursor color selection.
