The reason why i stay in so many other good mmo/arpgs like poe, new world whatever is the social aspect. You can talk crap or ask about help or whatever in a general chat. I mean whats even the point of selling emotes etc in the shop in D4? You think ppl will pay tens and hundreds of bucks to be able to show an emote during a legion or world boss to a select few ppl that cant even talk back?’
Its so fundamentally lonely game for a arpg that its horrible.
Playing alone is fine im no big party fan either. But as Teksuo says just having a feeling that there are ppl in the game with you means alot. Just like a global chat, more permanent ppl around in towns ateast.
Balance all the various group buffs, xp and such
Balance the activity costs, like sigils, boss summons etc. so it isnt wildly cheaper for groups
Balance difficulty for solo and groups
Totally fine to add a chat too, as long as it is optional.
But should focus on balancing first imo.
Its not like it rules out anything. I doubt making a new channel in the chat system that is global is very hard to code. Would do wonders for thousands of us.
Exactly, and thats my biggest issue. They need to move the social aspect into the game. Not to share an emote around a world boss a few times per day. No, i want global chat, i want to be able to talk to anyone i see, be it whisper, local/area chat or whatever. And also global chat to make the game buzz with life.
Not saying you’re wrong but its actually really hard to achieve this. The chat box is not built for the social aspect, the game is not primarily built for social either since there’s like 10 shards of the game occurring parallel to each other. For example, teleporting in and out of a zone would put you in a completely different shard of the game. So the people you wouldve been talking to wouldnt see your messages.
And a global chat would be terrible to deal with considering this game at times peaks over millions of players.
They will ofcourse have to have alot of channels 1,2,3 etc and a cap on each one. I dont see the prob. And no this game doesnt have close to a million concurrent. Maybe 2-300k at peak hours now after s2 launch
Activeplayer. io places the active players for the last 30 days at 5.2 million, In june it was estimated to be over 6.7 million with 400k active per day. And google trends puts the last 90- days as Diablo 4 having well over 10x the amount interest gaged from Path of Exile.
MMO Population places the peak player base on the season release at 3.2 million. and currently sitting at around 1 million.
No matter what source you look to. D4 is more massive than you think.
Id say beyond 99% play single player / SSF / Trade only interactions.
Currently it shows about 7 million. Dunno where you’re reading that from. and i didnt use it as a soul reference. Especially when you considering majority of players are casuals and definitely when you consider that D4 made nearly 700 million dollars in sales alone from launch. Doing an average cost of the game at $80, you get 8,750,000 units.
Due to the fact that majority of players didnt reach level 80 and were still playing. I would guess over 40% of players stopped playing, so the final number would be around 5 million “active” users.
I just answered this earlier in post. I too play alone and prefer that. The thing is though, i want the feel of a community. I want a global chat, a trade chat etc and the possibility to party up for stuff easily as well, even if i just play solo. Its a hige difference to play solo in a single player game and solo in an mmo buzzing with life.
