Why looting item for other class?

why do we loot item for other class ? to make sure we cannot find the legendary power we want before level 100 ? because its exactly whats happening right now and its very sad

There’s other people arguing there should be more loot from other class. Just so it’s easier to level up an alt.

Smart loot is the bane of ARPGS.

It’s the games way of saying you are playing the wrong class😁

There should be no such thing as “loot for other classes”.
Nor should there be smart loot.

How is it sad? It doesnt really matter that much.

Fine for me because I play all classes every season

“Because I should be able to have everything I need in 10 hours completely min/max bis. This way I can complain theres no end game”

see i would like more loot for other class, in other game like diablo 2, LE, Grim dawn this is make me want to play other class and add to longevity, when i got an item that give me an idea for build and then i can create the other class to try it… the thing is in d4 we only get blue and yellow for other class so its kinda useless…i would like more loot since they open trade it could be a good thing for that too…

I don’t mind it to a lesser degree.

If you are crafty though, you can use rarespawn loot, and drops with zero or one roll off stat, and give it to a alt. So i hardly see a issue, you can certainly farm items ready to go for an alt. rarespawn drops are great for this for a building block, if you hunt them at the right level for your alt.

But yeah there is plenty of generic stat loot with maybe a ranks to skills roll off or such affix’s that are class specific. Again loot filter would make this far easier, stash space also. its just hard to play that way with the tools we have without effort. but it can be done.

Enchanter needs upgrading, rng stat pools could offer some kind of choice, weather use find loot that lets you do this or its a cost thing idc, just needs something other than well rng lets go, i have a 1/20 affix shot to get what i want, and it goes up through the roof every re-roll, there is just no fun in crafting the gear you want compared to most other aprgs. that have a fun side to combat the rng side.

I think perhaps using a gem at the enchanter could be a way to lessen the pool, so a pool of 5 for example belong to each color gem or something like that, maybe add rare gems that let you pick the affix idk so much you can do to make it more fun. The power is always rng though ofc.

If i were to guess getting potentially cool loot for other classes will incentives players to make a new characters of that class. Every time a person rerolls is a near garontee of another dozen or more hours of play time for that player. The longer people play, the more they will collectively pay. Im sure they have an internal metric that would break down every hour played is equal to a specific value.
Maybe thats just my pessimistic view of live services games tainting my perspectives though.

smart loot is another way to casualise arpgs even more. Let me be a damn shield-wielding sorceress if I want to!!! Let us be imaginative with the gear.

To feed to the alt.
It has to stay that way imo

So we can salvage it for materials, needed for crafting.

Even d2 had “loot for other classes”

D2 did plenty of things that imo should not be done.
Such as that.

All classes should be able to equip everything. All affixes should function across classes.
All item variants should not be equally useful for everyone. All affixes should not be equally useful for everyone. But builds should be the main factor in that equation, not the class.

Like, a Paladin might generally benefit more from a shield than a Rogue, as they would just be more proficient with a shield, and have more skills that relates to shield usage. But both would get some kind of benefit from it.

But then you lose out on things like +skill, which would be the opposite of fun.

I mean, i get this point, but class based affixes/legendaries are just more FUN then generic ones. Only popular game out there without class based items is PoE, and honestly I find their unique system boring.

Not at all.
Have skill categories/tags across the classes.
We already have that with +Core skills etc.
Can have +Projectile skills etc. below those.

Heck, it would fit with Blizzards streamlining and reduction of affixes.

You’d still lose out on class specific uniques/legendaries

and those would still be somewhat class specific, not every class has things like projectile, or cold
