Why is XP gain so slow?

Whoever thought slowing xp gain down even more than it was at launch is a lunatic. Literally the most boring trudge combined with redoing the lame quests for reputation again.

Diablo is about hitting max level then gear maxxing, not this sludgy boring mess…

84 here, checking in. I did one Helltide, went from 82 (just under 83) to 84 and a quarter. 6 Paragon points.

So yeah, didn’t feel slow to me at all.

Just from one helltide?! I can only get like a half of a level! I go for 2 mystery chests. What am I doing wrong??

Use an elixer and have a friend. Build around movement speed and damage.

The extra xp from season is a big boost too

There’s 4, for starters. 2 on the map at the first 30 mins, 2 on the second. Usually divided into north/south, one in each area.

Since the monster density change, I’m able to nab 2 in the first 30, 2 in the second, then 3-5 of the 75 chests.

Not only killing quicker/more, but the chests all yield XP as well. If you get really lucky, a Legion Event will happen inside Helltide. I think I left that one with 1600 shards in total (from the entire Helltide).

TY I guess I’ll try to finish the entire hour and see!

Try a Helltide/Event tracker. Helps greatly to identify where the Mystery Chests are. Massive time savings right there. It also shows Events (orange circles) for extra XP/Loot/Shards.

Spend your Obols prior to Helltide!

In this game you pretty much get the same loots at level 70 than you do at level 100. You should not be waiting until level 100 to gear up.
I agree though that XP is too low. Especially if they want players to go to level 100 every 3 months because of those ridiculous season journey objectives. They still dont know if they want their game to be a game that makes casual players keep coming back or a game for hardcore ARPG fans LMAO

It is atrociously slow with no challenge. Doesn’t matter how high you clear you don’t gain more exp. Its atrocious.

Imagine if you were back a decade to when D3 began. You think leveling in D4 is slow?

I remember the grind to 60. I remember the even longer grind to P100.

It took freaking forever back then. Even speeders took a pretty decent bit of time while grinding some of the most boring areas in the game at the time over and over for hours and hours and hours.

Kids today.

Game on.

Try hitting 100 on PoE lol

That will make D4 feels like a breeze.

Adjusts Onion Belt, you kids should have tried leveling and getting all of your AAs in Everquest 1.

That would be 10 hours of pure grind to go from 90 to 100. Which isn’t true as each level takes longer. Yes, that’s way too slow.

the problem is that in PoE you finish the story at lvl 75, there are more than 150 unique maps besides dozens of extra contents like incursion, delv, heist, etc… and the mechanism of the league that give a lot of xp and take you easily to the lvl 90~95. and as the level of the end game mobs is 85, with lvl 90+ you already do all the final content without any problem, in fact these last lvl don’t even count in builds. Here the story ends at lvl 48 and you go through 50 tedious lvl doing the same dungeon with different names (sometimes) and with mobs always 10 lvl above yours.

that said, the game’s xp is not bad or low, the leveling of the game is very VERY bad. if he was more extractive, with more xp for world activities, heltides etc. if the bosses here had events like in GW2, were more and had at least one every 30 min (like in GW2) that is with more options of places to level up, the game would not be tedious and we would not feel the leveling so bad.

No it’s not, the xp from season and potions are additive, not multiplicative. So 8% from the season makes you go from 200% to 208%. Let’s suppose you get 100 xp a kill. T4 makes you be at 300 xp and the season blessing makes you go to 308 xp. If you throw in a pot as well you go from 300 to 313xp a kill.

Anyway, I’m level 84 and it takes about 2.5 lvl 50 NM dungeons to get a paragon point. So basically the increased mob density brought it back to how it was when we got 25% bonus xp from 3 lvls higher AND when we got more base xp from enemies more than 10 levels higher than us.

I get it.

You hate it. That’s fine.

There are things I don’t like about it sure. But I’m still enjoying the game so far, for now.
