is it because of the dupe ? if yes than still why tho ?
u can just drop the mats to other players and they can pick them up
and since most people who dupe them will sell them for real money it doesnt matter that its not a trade interface / they cant trade gold
its not stopping it atall so why even bother to disable the trade its only hurting those who dont try to dupe / rmt
precisely. so it is easier for them to target those accounts using rmt and duping. you answered your own question really

Not saying that this is the case, but the act of dropping and trading can be different of trading, regarding the data collected in these two moments, one can be easier than other to validate rmt or dupped items.
Although, regarding dupped items, it is strange for me that there are no single unique id associated with an item that one could see as dupe or a strange item that is acquired in a strange moment.
This is why we can’t have nice things!

Even as someone that plays ssf, I gotta say that trading being locked for this long is beyond hilarious, is there just one guy trying to fix it or something? (small indie company and all that)

Trading is disabled because the smartypants at Blizzard thought it was a good idea to add multiple summoning materials with extra boring grind for them. And this is a MUST materials to get best items in the game. Go figure why the 3rd party websites are making billions of duping this crap right now.
Trading is disabled because it is a tradition to disable trading for a period of time for each season apparently.
