As we can understand, it’s not related to Diablo, Lord of Terror at all. This game is about the creators of Sanctuary, war between angels and demons, nephalems and poor humans…
Better call it World of Sanctuary or Eternal Conflict Online or somehow more related to the story/plot of the game.

I mean; as far as we know Diablo could show up in the story at some point. If not here, possibly as part of a season or expansion. Unless the whole story has been leaked already there’s no way to know at the moment.

It would cost them more marketing money to market a new brand name than just re using the same one and adding a number next to it. Diablo will show up somehow don’t worry.

Dang you’re right. They should’ve stopped calling the franchise “Lethal Weapon” after they killed that 1 bad guy in the 80’s. Call the next movie “Bad Guy with a Gun” so that everyone knows what movie it is
edit…and can you believe they kept calling the movies Lethal Weapon like 4 more times? Preposterous, it was a different bad guy every time! At least Rush Hour makes sense, because every day is rush hour.

If you payed attention to what adria says in d3 when you kill her its a dead give away that diablo will be returning at some point. Odds are we won’t be seeing him for an expansion or 2 though

Demons always return after they are killed. Thats why they need to be imprisoned.

diablo dont need resurection but mabe u can speed it, all demons resurect by them self as angels sooner or later after ages thats why angels wanted to imprison him and not to kill but imprerius killed him cus he got no brains? how in hell angels doin so stupid actions i dont get it they got godly wisdom and intelligent again holes in lore or he not who we think he is
Because they make diablo. they get to call it that. It’s their game. it takes place on their world. we have only seen a small part of the story so we can’t even say what you claim.

For all we know, all of the prime evils could make an appearance. The soulstone was destroyed by Malthael at the end of D3, releasing the souls.
I’m pretty sure I saw Duriel in one of the developer gameplay videos.

I just figured it’s because it takes place within the “Diablo” Universe.
Yeah. I expect we’ll see him again.
Part of me believes Blizzard will bring Diablo back in the expansion. So far we had:
- Diablo — Diablo as the endgame Boss.
- Diablo II — Baal as the endgame Boss in LoD.
- Diablo III — Malthael as the endgame Boss in RoS.
So, maybe:
- Diablo IV — Diablo is reinstated as the endgame Boss in ???.
Different The Butcher.
The Butcher isn’t a specific Demon. They are created by stitching together various Demon body parts. (At least according to Deckard Cain in D3. There’s a race of The Butcher Demons).
I wouldn’t be surprised.

Why is it called ‘The Legend of Zelda’ if we play as Link?
Why is it called ‘Metroid’ when we play as Samus?
Why are they called ‘Final Fantasy’ when they are not final? Why are they numbered when none are connected (10-2 and 13-2 aside)?
Also; it’s called an ‘Artifact Title’.
Since it takes place in the same world with the same lore as the previous Diablo games; It’s a Diablo game.

Diablo has, apparently, turned into an MMO. This means no Diablo 5, 6, etc. but new content every so often. As such, they will slowly roll out different demon bosses (Andariel, Malthiel, etc.) before rolling out the Prime Evils. Then, something will go wrong and… probably, the cycle will repeat itself. I do not see Inarius, etc. becoming bad guys but it is possible as they will need a new way to occasionally resurrect at least Diablo.
After an unsuccessful meeting with Inarius in d4 beta, this depressed dude can easily become a bad guy and will be pre last boss. The last boss will obviously be Lilith. So Diablo will wait patiently for some expansion or D5 
A Diablo V is probably 15 years away. Diablo will definiteky make an appearance, final boss for sure.
Same lore, same world.
The name of the game itself hasn’t really mattered since Diablo 1. Killing Diablo might have ended the story in D2 and D3, but he wasn’t the main focus of players in either game.
