The 1K limit on obols is a head-scratcher for me, when pretty much everything else (mats and the like) is unlimited…should they remove the cap?
It’s going to be higher starting Tuesday. 2500 I think? I’d guess the cap is there to encourage you to actually spend them.
2500 will be better than 1000 for sure, thx!
You know there’s this weird phenomena on the forums, where the closer we get to a patch that adds something the player base wants, and is clearly listed in the patch notes, the more questions or suggestions pop up about it.
Not that it’s a bad thing, helps alleviate their worries of course, just find it interesting is all.
Yeah i was scrolling to the bottom to point out the same thing… then i saw you beat me to it
2500… and the gear will be 925 and have chance to greater affix proc, will be nice.
That some people do not even bother to read before they create threads? Like the people who do not bother to read the patch notes, watch the streams, listed to the Q&As nor read the blogs and say: “What’s new.”
Yea I wonder if it’s the “new car phenomenon”. When you buy a new car all of a sudden you see thousands of them on the road when you didn’t before. But in reality they’ve always been there you just were conscious of it. Perhaps all these questions have always been here but they stick out more because we’re so close to the patch.
Sorry I missed it in the patch notes, my bad hehe
It’s a mix I feel. I remember obols coming up a few months back, just as an example. The topic falls off for a while, someone else has the same idea, posts about it. Just happens to coincide with the patch that actually changes what they were asking about.
This isn’t toward the OP, but there’s also people who just love to post about the same exact topic without looking 10 lines down the forum to see it’s already been posted as well. Or worse they’ll necro a thread that hasn’t been relevant in nearly a year, again about something that’s already been changed or is changing soon.
Funny how that works.
TBH, I really don’t like capping things in games. Players can build any outstanding stat as their success. If they feel it is redundant and unnecessary, they will switch to another stats.
It’s a little bit disappointing that exists capped rules…
Not sure why there is a cap on Obols at all. Even if players were duping Obols, you would have an infinite and easy source of gear no matter what the cap was.
I find it to be annoying myself.
I play all 5 classes each season so not having a cap would help with alts and leveling (mostly for aspects), imo.
Seems there are two types of players. Those who follow the game, updates, and development, and those who don’t. So many topics this week are answered if someone would just read the notes or watch the campfire videos.
Ok, fair point, I glossed over the obol cap increase to 2500 in the patch notes…but still, why have a cap at 2500? Why not make it unlimited, or 99K for example, for players that play multiple classes/builds per season and like to save obols for them?
They want you spending them more frequently to make a stronger intermittent reinforcement pattern, increasing people’s addiction to the game.
2500 helps spread it out till you’re looking for that affix to make a new build work or whatever, though. It’s a good compromise. Like D2, you spend a few days building up 10M gold then gamble it all on a ridiculously low chance of getting something usable. I think a bigger pool will increase the gambler mentality rather than stifle it.
