Why is everyone fine with Bash cleave tempering being a multiplier

Why is everyone fine with Bash tempering being a multiplier when literally everything else for every other skill/class that can be tempered is additive (not to mention it can get to crazy crazy high % thx to 4 weapons).

It sets a very bad precedent to leave this as it is and severly reduces build diversity because of how dumb it is.

For some context, aspects that give a 10%X or 30%X increase are considered great… yet lets give bash a 1200%X increase just from tempering… WTF EVEN IS THIS DECISION??

I’d also like to point out that I am playing barb right now and I think this is a absolutely ridiculous thing to not fix. The build would still be good, just not insane like it is now. You would then actually have to care about getting even better gear etc… As it currently stands you could use a yellow with Bash cleave % and it would be MUCH better than using a grandfather in the same slot.

I’d love to hear a dev justify this decision because the way I see it, there is none.

“Everyone” isn’t fine with it. But aside from Thorns, it’s all Barbs really have. And “everyone” knows it will change S5, if not midseason.

Most of the Barb Core-type abilities are utter dog poo, with poor skill level scaling or odd animations/mechanics. Workable? Sure. And lots of Barbs enjoy them. I myself, love Deathblow, for instance. But the chief reason many of these are even in the “workable” state is due to the number of multipliers Barbs can get. Even most Legendary Paragon powers get skipped over.

I think this is a case of not nerfing it during a season. I bet it will be changed next season.

Because it’s fun, idk?

I thought they said it isn’t a multiplier - that patch note was about an internal bug fix that only applied to some build that was never live.

Probably because most people are playing Barbs lol. Hard to reason not to when they end up the best class time and again.

They definitely aren’t the best this Season. They weren’t in S0 or S1, either. I’d say the best award goes to Necro. So many pathways to clearing 61+ (which is the measure of success this Season, imo).

I have 3 classes this Season so far. Necro, Barb, Sorc. Working on Druid (lv 70ish now).

Barb - another bugged/inadvertent skill Season. Last Season was Charge/HotA. S2 was HotA. I wish Barb would be “fixed” as to not rely on a skill that works as unintended. Just give me skills that work, across the board and let me choose.

Sorc is fun, but pushing beyond 40 requires far more effort. I need to highly refine gear, and mine isn’t good. Sorc abilities needs far more distinction in what they do and how they interact with Mana. Most are nearly the same: cast cost of ~30 Mana, hit with an element, apply element’s unique effect/status. I say bring on variety, like Thunder Hydra, Flame Orb, and Ice Meteor.

Necro is fun. Lots of builds now simply work. Mine isn’t even using Golem, and I can clear in the 90s (Bone/Minion with Mendeln).

Druid - I absolutely hate the requirement to have 9 minions (more than Necro!) and consume 3 Action Slots and 2 Affixes as a mandate to get decent multipliers to use other abilities. I like bear/wolf form. I like pets. I like caster. I just don’t think they should mix as much as they do.

Charge , Bash , what’s next ? Rend ?
It’s beyond comprehension and pathetic

the problem is thats all barbs have with out exploiting other builds

Bash Temper absolutely yields a multiplier. You can see the difference clear as night vs day when you slap on that Temper.

The part they meant is that the patch note changing it to additive (like it should be) was part of an internal build - so the multiplicative factor stays in live.

Having a single target basic skill be the standout build of the league because of a wildly broken temper is lame and also a big part of the reason there’s huge pushback on tempering bricking stuff (because the strongest affix on an item is the temper instead of the GA).

They 100% intended to nerf it and didn’t mean for it to be a multiplier, but immediately heard the backlash and made up some lame excuse about it being a typo to keep people happy. I understand it sucks that people invested into the gear, but it would have still been decent. Honestly it should have never went live like that or immediately gotten changed before people invested.

I’m a Barb player too and wish it wasn’t so ridiculously overtuned, but I’m trying to just pretend like it doesn’t exist. Lots of stuff can clear 100+ so just focus on what you find fun and try and make the best version of that build. I’m doing a flay/rupture build and it’s awesome and owns.

Because Bash fun. Part of that fun comes from it being strong.

Take any build you’d like and remove 90% of its damage. No matter how much fun you had in that build, part of the fun is from the ability to kill stuff and how it interacts with the world around you. Remove a big part of that, and you remove the fun from the build.

As such, I am fine with Bash being strong. No matter if it’s multiplicative, additive, dividitive, procentitive or hokus-pokustive. As long as it works.

Apart from being op what exactly makes bash “fun”? It’s a starter skill for your first 5 levels and fury generator till you can get better gear.

Whats more fun? A barb hitting a poor squirrel for 54 billion damage or a rogue that has to build 3 combo points, hit his imbuement skill and then if he havent already fallen asleep can do a flurry attack hitting for 17 damage?

HOTA? WW? Another not “basic skill”? This is a default attack that’s owning the game this season. And because of a typo probably lol.

It is definitely not getting that kind of multiplier. Should be fairly easy to prove on the test dummy. Use weapons without the tempering, see what you get, then use weapons with the tempering and compare.

B/c they play barbs, thats justification enough. Maybe one day they will play sorcs, and we can move from barbillions to sorctrillions.

absolutly true.

This lame D4 crowd argument: BLiZzArD StOp NeRfInG FuN!!!1 should go.
Uber uniques now are more common than any D2 hell uniques, leveling takes you like 6 hours, everything is so easy before pit level 100 that it is already ridiculous.
The most rare thing now in the game is getting right tempering and finding stygian stones.
Sooner or later this game will be 10h seasonal journey, same as D3.

Hate to break it to you but this is the season of the default attack. Due to crazy Aspects like Moonrise and insane tempers, basic attacks builds are the meta for almost every class. Barbs best build? Bash, basic attack.
Rogue best build? Heartseeker, basic attack.
Druid best build? Windshear, basic attack.
Sorc best build? Firebolt, basic attack.
For Necro minions are just too good to bother with basics.
