Why i'm no that excited for the "2.0 PTR"

this is more of me just venting at this point. let me start with the good:

the game is alot more fun to play than it was ~a year ago. (duh)
I’m glad they are continuing to add systems/features to the game.

now the “bad”:
within a year or so of launch, they have had to rework itemization, and now progression. this does NOT bode well.
the fact that they seem incapable/unwilling to learn from past Diablo games (see the armory in D3) and how D4 launched with basic systems flat out missing.
the upcoming “2.0 PTR” will be the bog standard 1 week test with half of the things we should be testing just not there due to “tech issues” or some other PR speak. yes, woo hoo we have a PTR! But, what good is it if we cannot test the things that need broad testing asap?

sincerely,
a frustrated D4 player

I’m a little bit excited because now I’m convinced that Blizzard actually reads some of the feedback even if you don’t create a post with thousands of likes in social media.

Total assumptions at this point. They learned and responded to PTR related issues with the last PTR, and are improveing future ones. Also launch of VoH and season 6 is in October, yet thes are announceing PTR and share details next week. Maybe I’m delusional, but for me this might mean the PTR will be more than a week.

There are still lots of new features we don’t know about in 2.0 and VOH that the devs are holding back on. Give it some time. October is right around the corner too.

  • Mercenaries
  • Reinforcement System (apparently you attach it to a skill)
  • New Gem Tab (Why? They stack. Something NEW coming!)
  • Level Changes
  • Gear Changes (some sort of “squish”)
  • Skill Changes
  • Paragon Revamp
  • Group Dungeons
  • Group Finder
  • …I can go on.

If you don’t like forced group vplaym VoH is starting to look pretty crappy

I think I get where you’re coming from. I may not entirely agree but liking your post anyway. You’re thinking things through and your intent is for a better game.

I think they are getting better at giving more classes opportunities but in the process, some things are being neglected, currently.

While I wish the state of the game was better from the start, I’m cautiously optimistic about where it’s going.

PTR 2.0 better be longer than a week, though. We’ll find out for sure on Thursday.

We already know about most of these and even saw some UI. So as I said, aside from the progression changes, not many new features to show of. Even new skills I would not consider new features to be honest.

Pretty damn good job they did in a year too considering how long it took them to fix d3 post reaper of souls to which they made countless fixes and updates too

In the end d3 had rifts/greater rifts bounties and stuff

We have NmD, pits, helltides, gauntlet, whispers pvp, legions, world bosses, and soon to be raids, merc system, new class, and god knows what else

Oh?
So then tell me

  • How will stat squish work?
  • What goes in the new Gems Tab?
  • What new skills will all the classes get?
  • How will Skill Levels change?
  • What Paragon changes will occur?
  • How will Group Finder operate?

The truth is - you know exactly NONE of those answers.

They literally had a few screenshots showing the group finder. No need to see more before getting your hands on it.
Stat squish is not a feature as far as i am concerned.
New skills arent a new feature either, just an expansion of what we have. Although I agree its about time for them to show this.
So as I mentioned, the progression changes is the main thing we need to learn about. Ans sure whatever the gem thing you are mentioning could be. Did not see it so i cannnot tell.

so much for the PTR lasting longer than a week, huh? oh well.

Huh? It starts today.

the ptr was, in fact, 1 week.
