Why have the devs not talked about

The overwhelmingly negative and pretty much unified feedback around the boss changes? Are they just figuring if they ignore it people will just say “ok fine”?

They don’t care. Show me a less passionate team of developers. You can’t.

Same reason they don’t talk about the negative feedback for tempering, Masterworking, and any other number of things. They don’t plan to change it anytime soon.

Sorry I’ve just never seen a team or company see a response like “everyone hated that” and just continue on like nothing happened.

As a game dev you speak about problems if you have changes to announce or you need more feedback.
I think they have enough feedback already.

You cant know if “everyone hates that”. If everything would be removed that people complain about, there would be no game at all.

That’s the issue though, you can’t definitively say ‘everyone’. I would say a there’s a decent amount on the forums who don’t like it. However I haven’t checked Reddit, YouTube’s, twitter, etc. All the places blizzard checks.

I’m in the same boat I don’t like the changes, not to this extent anyway.

I love the boss changes, the people complaining are the knuckledraggers that just want the bosses to be pinatas instead of bosses.

I especially love the loot changes that requires you to have the mats instead of someone leeching off your group then hopping away to just leech off someones elses group for their play session.

lets also not forget that you will always see more complaints, and praise on pretty much anything.

I dont recall OP for example having ever left the feedback that he likes 1 Shot loot pinatas.

I do watch other social medias, reddit, youtube, twitch, facebook even. The feedback is very much unified.

I don’t necessarily want one hit pinatas, but forced extra phases/forced immunities, multiple times per summon, mixed with cheap one shot mechanics also isn’t fun. Especially when you consider the amount of time sink vs the fact that the rewards are non-existent, unless you run Belial, in which case most of that doesn’t even apply.

You like duriel taking about 30-60 seconds from summon to finish?

This is my issue with the changes. They went overboard. If it had maybe 1 immunity phase at 50% health it would’ve been better than 3-4 immunity phases depending on the boss. Even still, I want my power fantasy back. If I can prove I can one-shot the boss I should be able to do just that.

Why is Belial the only boss we can do that to now?

thats something i can get on board with btw. On a few bosses they overdid it a little, while some others have no immunity at all.

The only boss change I disliked was Andariel. I also disliked how many pincushioned dolls dropped next to other items, but that could be my bad luck.
Then again, it makes sense that the higher the Boss challenge, the less likely it can be one-shot. Not making excuses, just that it makes sense.

If you ignore your problems long enough, eventually they go away.

Oh yeah, this season proves they have a very weird mind set for the direction they want the game or how players “should” play

3 is not 1 or 2 i admit but it is also not 10 or more.

Also saying one shoot every time (not you personally) doesn’t make it true. If you have the tools, there is no one shoot mechanic on any boss. Enough Damage reduction and health and you survive Andariel, Duriel and the Harbingers special attacks, even on T4.

I’m also not a huge fan of these immunity phases but i don’t see these as bad as the core, why these phases exist. Because of their ridicilous damage model with multipliers and no balancing around different builds.
I have 400 base life (lvl 60) and do 20 trillion damage. This is horsecrap.

They just need to make fights more consistent and introduce a perimeter damage penalty to boss attacks, and lesser/secondary attacks should be more survivable

The solution is not to go back, the solution is to go forward

I’m not gonna go that far and say it was the right move, but I’m gonna say I don’t think it was a bad decision (again, as long as they make the “got caught by a few pixels at the edge” survivable)

They won’t change anything unless Rob says that so.

Actually I like that, I like to do at least some boss “dance”, not 0.1s fight. But in s8 I started playing DT rogue and that build makes no sense in boss mechanics pretty quickly, in like 20h I have already been standing in the middle of Lilith’s arena and didn’t care about even moving to the actual end of the fight. And I have never been able to do that on any build before.

For me Devs made everything wrong when it comes to Bosses this season:

  • Change to the loot tables
  • Terrible quality of the loot, just as bad for Initiate and Greater Bosses
  • RNG for Belial mat – brought back bad memories of Stygian Stones
  • Inconsistent difficulty in the Boss ladder: letting players one-shot Belial but not lower level Bosses
  • Reduced Mythic drop rate. With such a low quality on Ancestrals, getting a Mythic from time to time would have made it more bearable.

You are wrong. Not all classes and builds have 30 or 40k HP to survive Boss attacks. My main build is an Ice Shard Sorc this season with 5k health. Sure, most of the time, the ice barrier is on which mitigates damage…most of the time. Fighting Andariel was by far the worst because there is basically almost no non-damaging surface on the arena. A single power hit from Grigoire, Zir is also a one-shot.
