Why grinding a Season's activities if items obtained don't persist?

All items you collected, including in your Seasonal stash, will be transferred too. You can take this character into Sanctuary whenever you please, but Season-specific features such as Malignant Hearts will no longer be accessible.

So, uh… what is the point of grinding malignant hearts if we lose them all 3 months later? I’m not sure I follow the logic here. That’s the first time I hear of a seasonal obtained item that you just can’t keep. Not the crafting material, but the actual heart/item.

Am I the only one finding this a strange decision?

It’s horrible, they brought over borrowed power from seasons in WoW.

maybe they meant no longer dropeable but you keep the ones you have ?

though yea it needs more info

They clearly said “no longer accessible”, not “can no longer be dropped”.

Did you ever play D3? Not trying to be snarky.

How about instead of Blizzard creating borrowed power, they just create more uniques. Problem sovled.

Because that’s what seasons do. Don’t let the FOMO grip you. Enjoy the season and move on.

Some of y’all have got to be trolling at this point.

This is how seasons work. It’s why seasons can be fun. You put crazy fun items into seasons that impact that season and then you do another new thing for the next season

I did… everything you got in a Season followed back to the non-seasonal character. Again, not the crafting mats, but the items themselves did.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

WoW has had this thing where you get new powers every expansion and after the expansion is over the system is just completely canned and you move on to some new set of arbitrary powers.

People hated that.

I don’t care because I am never playing that character or any other character on the eternal realm again. I’ll be moving on to the next season.

Incorrect, look at the later seasons that had specific items in them, you’ll find they did not in fact transfer over to the non-seasonal characters. This wasn’t until the much later seasons mind you, such as the 20+ Seasons, but there were in fact items that would not transfer over to non-season.

Seasons will now be renamed ‘seasoning’, in honor of all the salt.

And once you get max ilvl in WoW, the next season of the same expansion a few months later makes your max ilvl obsolete when they release new content. Borrowed power is atrocious.

Just stick to the eternal world and min max your character. Slow and steady rather than race to be pointless every three months. Do a battlepass if the cosmetic is dope otherwise eternal.

If you haven’t played seasons before, it might be weird that it’s temporary, but modern ARPG’s get stale pretty quickly so seasons are there to shake things up and offer a new experience. They are temporary because they can add things that are more impactful without slowly (or in this case quickly) adding power creep every season.

For many ARPG players, the journey is more fun than the destination. The most fun part of the experience is starting from an underpowered character and making it into a superpower. That might not be everyone’s idea of fun, but most ARPG find this gameplay style to be really fun.

Maybe you enjoy that, and good for you buddy. For me it’s the other way around: Eternal realm is my baseline, what I “built” and grinded for. Seasons are just temporary and going away. If you don’t care about Eternal realm, why not allowing those hearts to live on for people who enjoy playing there?

Alright, fair enough, I definitely did not do any season 20+ so I didn’t know.

Yeah, for me it’s playing the superpowered character, that’s what I enjoy

Wait, I missed this. They are just going to make our seasonal items and gear poof after the season ends? Holy crap, that is dumb AF. That is anti everything arpg.

Hmm… did it? It’s been a minute and I can’t recall if there ever was a different situation. Probably due to the fact that only played seasons after the initial first time.
Tbf, once I 100% eternal, I doubt I’ll bother with it till next xpac in this game too.

Maybe I am in the minority here but I don’t like the idea of grinding hundreds of hours for gear that will just be removed a few months later. Once I earn something in the game, I want to keep it forever.
