Why? Generally Nothing But Time Wasted

We’ve heard it all before, complaints, fanboys, even more complaints and fanboys; an endless battle between those who are casual and those who are dedicated… Answers and/or solutions ZERO…

Why even bother playing? I asked myself this just now when I got in:

  • No gob counter what so ever - Where are we on this journey? Blizzard doesn’t care to let us know, just “trust them”…
  • Farming, hours and hours and hours only to keep getting GA’s with life per 5 seconds, max resistance, max life, max overpower, max everything you don’t need except for very specialized builds.
  • Farm some more, to pits, gain a drop in the bucket experience against massive requirements.
  • Cap pit runs until you find something better. See bullet point above.

I’ve played enough the last two days I have 2.9 billion gold finally in eternal. Clearly hunting gobs brought more gold, but clearly it also shows I’ve found nothing to improve on.

IMHO the problem is aRGP and gaming in general has become about seasonal play only. Eternal is a joke in this game the way things get marked legacy and you have to find the same stuff all over again so they can legacy it at the end of the current season.

Yes, this is a rant and more people should be ranting…

I played enough I am not complaining about money spent, nor time played. I got my moneys worth in those terms. I’ve held on hoping Blizzard will finally decide a direction on this game… Although, it doesn’t matter GGG, Blizzard, or insert name here; they all seem like they are lost in a long term game with eternal and valid content; focusing on the seasonal.

That isn’t allowed on these forums. The walking dead D4 zealots will drown you out, or even start mass flagging even while posting constructive criticism.

Toxic positivity has been the ruin of this game. Seal clapping at every small change made even if it is implemented poorly. Almost all metrics show that the game has lost an overwhelming amount of its player base, even on fresh seasonal content…but the cheerleaders cheerlead even while its raining in their faces.

I’m starting to think…

that people when playing seasons should play 1 - 2 weeks of a games season and move on, before they just get hurt, one way or another.

OH Really?

Let me see…

Why are trade prices so high?

I am looking to get my 3rd ascendancy and I’m lvl 78 and not one as drop at all I’m looking for one on the trade site and its 1 divine for one???

Also checking trade and other things prices seem to be so high and off with most of stuff put on there, I played a lot of hours haven’t had I divine drop either.

I know its rng but prices on trade seem to be off, nothing like poe 1

Is anyone else having these problems?

On-death damage mechanics

Yet another post about on-death damage mechanics, but honestly, they’re incredibly frustrating, and I really hope GGG takes steps to address or even reconsider their place in the game. The recent patch may have “removed” some of these mechanics, but the overall design feels flawed and ends up making players angry instead of improving the experience.

1. XP Loss at Higher Levels
Losing XP on death, especially at higher levels, is punishing to an extreme. Grinding for hours only to lose significant progress because of a cheap on-death explosion feels like a slap in the face.

2. Overtuned AoE Damage
The AoE damage from some mobs is simply over the top. Even with capped resistances and a solid health/energy shield pool, you can still get one-shot out of nowhere.

3. Lost Maps and Loot
Dying before you can pick up your loot or fully clear a map is doubly punishing. You not only lose XP but also risk losing items you earned, which adds to the frustration.

Im just not having fun

so im about 100 hours into poe 2 and if you look at my last few play sessions this is how it goes.

I log in. do a map with nothing in it. do another map with nothing in it. get to a map with a boss, socket in my best way stone for sustain. get 1 shot because I made a slight mistake. loose the map. and the way stone. log out of the game

I log in. do a few maps with nothing in it. die to an on death effect, look at having to re run the same map again to continue moving towards the content I wanted to do. sigh then log out of the game

Today I logged into my grenade gemling legionnaire and got 1 shot by a boss doing an attack I couldn’t see because there were half a million explosions on my screen, logged out logged onto my dead eye. who proceeded to die because 5 ghost mobs went invisible and flew at her in 5 different angles boxing her in and killing her in half a second earlier in the day I was running crypt and as soon as i went though a door i got killed by several casters who were out of line of sight that killed me as soon as they were visible on my screen

to stress there are not badly geared characters. they are both fully res capped. one has 45% Armor and 47% evasion the other has 20 Armor and close to 60 evasion, life on every item

and my conclusion is. I’m making progress but I’m just no having fun. I work 50 hours a week, sometimes I am tired and its really not fun to play a game where you get horribly punished for every half second mistake, i don’t want to play a game where i feel like if im not at 100% locked in with a coffee and an energy drink then there is no point trying.

Endgame is really terrible.

-Tower maps. Just why. Its like if you had to run a Pillars of Arun map in PoE1 every time you wanna use a sextant. WHY???

-Im level 90 and havent even seen a citadel yet. I thought we learned this lesson in PoE1 that gating endgame bosses behind ridiculous RNG is terrible, but I guess not.

-One portal per map. Another awful decision. Imagine spending hundred hours to find a stupid Citadel boss and then it one shots you in 5 seconds and that’s it. What the BLEEP is this game design decision? Theres no way early beta feedback didnt tell them this was terrible. Its like they are just seeing how much anti-player design decisions they can get away with to increase retention through frustration. I dont think its a good long term strategy for them.

**** This person continued to say more, but it was a lot.
If need me, I can continue to paste the rest .

NO game is perfect.

You have people who like Diablo 4 here, you have people who like POE 2 There.

All ARPG games are Grindy, in general All video games is a waste of time.

How hard is it to look around and see not even close to enough people are playing to kill all those goblins? You guys wouldn’t have even got the first reward had their been a counter.

Except one of those games has game of the year hype and the other has the lowest google score of any arpg by a long shot.

The bigger problem and I’m sure they have that in their community too are the people that don’t like it and just come to these forums to toxic talk… I’m not talking about constructive criticism about the game or making points about things that could be different comparing to another game…

It’s the people who just give the comments "this game / company is terrible everybody should play this other game… " Yet continue to give no feedback or no legitimate reason to say this other than their parakeeting what they’ve heard some streamer or some other person post

Honestly if you’re going to come into a forum about a game discuss that game Don’t just toxic talk with nothing to back it up and consistently uptalk other games…

But all of these communities are flooded with toxic kids that are so angry or have no opinion of their own so they parakeet what they hear It almost makes being a part of these communities not worth it at this point

I mean call me a boomer all you want but 20 years ago when you came on to a blizzard for him You talked about the blizzard game and the things you liked or disliked about it all anyone ever hears about anymore is POE2 and how perfect it is but obviously just this with every other game that exists they have problems

I mean any company can say “our game is up for game of the year…” That’s why it’s called “hype” it’s just talking themselves up. The amount of competition in the game of the year award is way beyond just either one of these games that you speak of

And even with the lowest Google score the game continues to still have millions of people playing it… It’s amazing how the vocal few can convince the general public that they speak for everyone… “Can anyone say current American politics” secondly do you really think that people purchase games because of the Google score? Anyone that’s remotely close to a true gamer is not going to reference Google scores in the purchasing of their games…

Do you understand that you don’t see everyone in the world that’s playing all at the same time… That there are server shards which separate people into different servers such as the way world of Warcraft works where you don’t see everyone in the game you only see the people that are on your shard? There are times that you’re going to log in and the people that are on your shard are out doing other things so you’re not going to always run in to a town full of people… I guarantee if you log back out and log right back in chances are you’re going to see or you are going to be able to talk (in trade) a bunch more and different people

Edit: You say you guys wouldn’t have been able to collect so if I’m reading your writing correctly you’re not even playing the game so why be here spouting off toxicity… If you don’t like the game fine go to whatever game you do like… But to come to the forms of a game that you don’t like and are not playing just to be toxic is exactly why the forums have become a place that no true gamers want to spend it any time whatsoever

I stopped playing because of this same exact thing.

Already did my rant. Didn’t buy voh because of that.

Man, you ain’t preach Nothing but the Truth.
