Why even have levels if you auto scale?
What is your design objective here?

It’s nice to be able to go back and do the blue quests for renoun without one shotting everything and receiving level 5 drops from mobs
I mean I’d rather get level 5 drops from mobs and breeze through the content rather than feeling like I’m progressively getting weaker as I level up. Which defeats the entire point of having an RPG leveling system in the first place. The rate at which you can replace gear is not fast enough to keep up with your level ups. The solution? Make useful gear drop more often… or get rid of level scaling.
Even though things scale to your level, you should feel an appreciable power increase most of the time. There will be level gains early on where you feel like by leveling you are somehow less powerful than the previous level. You might just upgrade your gear to get over tbe hump. Some levels are harder than others.
Assuming later on they give a freestyle level option (Most games only make first run cart on rails to story, neocore arpg’s
only make you run story cart on rails the first season char run)…this will enable level anywhere you want.
It can be useful. coming from wow I used to hate scaling in retail.
Then I played classic. I took horde to 1000 needles and alliance to feralas. Needles from durotar is a long walk. Feralas is a long swim from darkhore/ashenvale region (massive pita and ironically…the easiest way at the same time).
Why? these were areas to support appropriate leveling. When you lack scaling you get cart on rails basically.
You belong here and here only. Now go over here for your next 5 levels. Not over there, you die, you are too low a level. And over there that other place now is no xp since massively over leveled and geared for it.
Did you create a forum account just to complain?
A sense of progression? You still get skill points and new items that get better.
This feel like a pretty bad question.
I understand OP and despite the spite, I also get people acting rudely towards them. I enjoy the experience of being overwhelmingly powerful in content that is well beneath you but I also at other times appreciate that all content can be current content, based on your advancement. It’s just one of those: can’t have it all ways all the times sort of thing.
To some extent, there are several contests going on. As such, they are trying to eliminate cheating. This means making it so that you cannot carry your friends. So, at least for the near future, monster scaling is a thing.
To keep you running on the hamster wheel bro
You can’t carry friends anymore but instead you can cooperate & both get experience & fun from the cooperation.
Why do we actually care about that in a single player game that has no auction house or advantage for leveling fast at all?
Wont world tiers solve this later on?
That’s pretty much how D3 worked right.
I stopped playing D3 a long time ago. No clue. I was playing a fun arpg: Poe
For the last 2 acts all of the mobs were 5-8 levels higher than me. Just do the campaign without doing anything else on T2 if you want mobs to be a different level than you.
because devs love maths and they keep make maths to keep you in game .it’s a strategic effort .
Skill up and gear up better then. Not once on my way to 60 so far have I felt I was getting weaker.
Lol poe and fun. Must be a masochist.
Ya scale leveling sucks !!So does going to the same dungeon over and over then the same town and fighting the same mobs and following the sam3 paths…What a waist of money .
this is the type of watered down stew you get when developers start catering to the largest mass of boring people. they love it.
