Let’s not kid ourselves. A lot of people have taken advantage of exploits and duping, not to mention buying gold and mats with real money. Doing these things absolutely gives people an advantage over others. Instead of taking the time to farm legitimately, they bypass that by duping and buying mats.
Until Blizz, gets a handle on this, there is zero point for the Gauntlet and any type of leaderboards as they will be tainted.
Some people really LOVE leaderboards.
And if they will be TAINTED by your supposition, I believe that will make them “tainted love”.
PoE solved this by making all of their competitive events be SSF. You can’t RMT in that mode.
I don’t care about leaderboards but was looking forward to the gauntlet a lil bit just to have something to do.
I like watching who the best is it’s fun to see some of the weird builds that come out of it too

They and everyone else needs to rethink SSF to just be no trading so those that do not want to trade can still group with friends/family if they want to.

Sure, I get all that and I hear ya. But it should be fair across the board and not allow those who took advantage of exploits and RMT to participate.

As someone who has legitimately farmed everything myself I don’t really agree with you.
For one we don’t even know what the objective is. Runar has it it’ll be a t70 nmd difficulty so then any Ubers you have will be way over kill and won’t really make a difference.
Like everything I do I do it for myself and to see myself improve. So even if the top 500 in the leaderboard all had some unfair advantage I don’t really care. What my goal will be is to constantly see my score go up which will be a sign I’m getting better. Even if they banned everyone that dupped or RMT in anyway people with more free time are still going to have an advantage, should we limit the leadership boards to only people who play less than 2 hours per day?
I can’t help but feel all the people claiming the boards are rigged before they even launch are just preemptively making excuses for why they didn’t make “worthy” status.
I do think “Group-Found” should be a mode in ARPGs. You designate a group of players up to the game’s max party size, and you can only play with them. I did a self-enforced version of this with my best IRL friend during D2R’s launch and had a blast.
Good for you though you missed a huge part of my point. I couldn’t care less about a “worthy” status. I just want Blizz to hold those who cheated and exploited, breaking the ToS/A, accountable and ensure that any type of leaderboard is fair and equitable.

I also want to see cheaters and exploiters and so on held accountable. But by your logic someone with shako and grandfather has an inherant advantage over someone who doesn’t in these gauntlets. I don’t hold that to be true. But even if it were true I have a shako, doombringer, both unique stones, no grandfather yet though so does that mean I have an advantage too? Those are the only things duping would have gotten anyone.
These being level 70 is disastrous design decision. This makes survivability not matter. IT makes damage not really matter. All that matters at this weak level is speed so every single leaderboard spot on gauntlet is going to be speed based. This makes it so ice and fire sorc are now trash as lightning teleport based builds will reign supreme and this will happen on other heroes as well. Terrible choice here. These should be endgame focused 100 level dungeons with monsters in the 150 level range.
It’s meant to be a speed challenge. Any build that speed farms is going to excel at it. It’s basically challenge rifts from d3 except you use your own gear instead of the preset gear a challenge rift gives you.
A pretty simple fix isn’t it? even if its not a perfect one.
SSF also makes it so you can’t get boosted by other players, so it removes the “popularity contest” factor.
