Why does Diablo 2 feel more enjoyable

I dread finding any items. It is usually junk. Including the raining down legendaries.

While still leveling I need upgrades, not junk. It is useless, just mskes you leave it behind becsuse that beats porting to to town every 10 minutes.

Less items, higher quality and actual upgrades, please.

Who got their stuff from bots.

It doesn’t matter whether you traded with bots or not, bots are the backbone of the entire economy.

And you’d have a point in saying that modern gaming culture and its reliance on Discord is frustrating.

But thats not a Diablo or Blizzard problem. Its just how gaming culture has evolved.

Adapt or die, the saying goes.

I agree with your sentiment that modern gaming culture sucks sometimes.

No they arent.

I never traded with a bot. I traded with real ppl. The economy was rich and alive

I mean, d2r sold like 10 million copies and people loved it… but ok.

Yes they are. You clearly have no idea what an economy even is.

What’s even better is lvling up without replacing any gear. The epic banhammer strikes you with -5% power. Well not really… but the buff hammer hits everything else in the world with +5% power. So basically same thing.

It sold because nostalgia and it was very tastefully remastered. D2 did a lot of things right for its time. Its a legend in the genre for a reason.

But it does not hold up to our standards of games made in modern times. It simply doesnt.

My experience with the economy was positive. Bots never negatively impacted me. Yeh ppl used rmt but that didnt devalue the good loot drops i found.

Items still had value no matter how many bots played.

Leveling up with gear evolving as you level up is also an interesting idea… good one.

And their value in the economy was dictated by bots, whether you used the bots or not.

OP, I agree, D2 is the ARPG GOAT, hands down, but D4 is an excellent base and could end up being amazing.

They need a ton more uniques, and they need uniques that actually get used. This would completely cure the slog after level 70-75 where you’re completely geared out in BiS and there’s just no item hunt at all. With uniques to chase, each item drop is exciting. Right now, uniques are useless, and there’s no item hunt at all past 70 or so.

They need chat channels.

They need more aspects for legendaries, specifically ones that aren’t super obvious. Right now, we have stuff like “Run these two imbuements and blow everything to pieces.” – In reality, it’d be more fun to get super creative and have access to general aspects like, “All movement speed beyond base, contributes to your attack speed.” – or, “Each mobility skill you use in succession boosts the power of your following skill percentage.” – Mostly things that aren’t super specific to certain builds, so you can mix, match, and be creative.

This is why you play fan mods. They fixed the easy balance issues. The core game is good. Combat is outdated though.

I just don’t agree with that. Lots of indie games on Steam that do well with older mechanics and graphics. Lot of old games getting remastered too that are finding a whole new generation of players who enjoy them.

No they weren’t. That isn’t how economies work, lol. The inherent power of the value primarily dictates its value. Supply and demand, of course, and demand is high when an item is powerful. Of course, bots can impact value in the sense that they’ll farm the valuable items and make them more plentiful, but this is more of a trickle down effect you see later on in seasons, and is entirely corrected by the start of a season.

D4 loot is engaging for you? Doing MMO bounties is engaging? NM dungeons being a rip off of greater rifts are engaging and top standards?

Yeh i sure do get excited finding loot with another %dmg increase if… or %dmg increase when… or gain a barrier.

Sure is fun memorable loot. 90% of the uniques being useless turd drops. My stash is full of trash uniques and i even stopped picking them up. Cant even bring myself to log into d4 rn. Id rsther log into d2r and its got nothing to do with nostalgia. Its just a better game made by better people.

Same, this guy is really hung up on bots. Like ok, ban them if they get to be a big issue. Blizzard is just a cheap company that never put proper resources to managing the bots. That’s on Blizzard not the game design of having trading.

And supply is determined by bots. You’re actually agreeing with me here but just saying “nuh uh” anyway.

If they can’t fix this voice chat or even their global chat, thats a big red flag. And it seems we will die. But our spawn doesn’t have to play or continue to buy the games being created by this company.

**My household is 3 games purchased… my family has their purchases and so and so on.

It eventually adds up and those pockets are not buying anything from their shop with our disposable incomes.

I mean that can’t be true, because bots wouldn’t take my items if they weren’t of value to trade for.
