For one, no one stays with same look very long. Second, Skyrim had better looking armor as part of the game over 10 years ago. Are we really at this point in games where we have nothing to spend money on? I can’t get Hulking paragon board to work because it’s broke, and they want money for shiney armor? How about using that blood money and fix the game.
Buying those skins helps them keep the game up to code
well i think in time, people like it happened in wow, they are gonna make the game in other servers and make mods.
They have to GET up to code first. Then keep it up.
It’s a valid point asked by many and complained about by more.
You’ll get the “feed the poor homeless devs” replies and the “how’s the multibillion corp supposed to keep the lights on” remarks.
Bottom line is: For the most part, all the TMOGS have already been designed and have long since been part of a budget(new ones to BE designed have been budgeted for) and any income made off TMOGS is just gravy, or Yacht Fuel.
Take your pick.
Out of their minds w the prices.
I was a WoW player(World of Warships) - I invested a fair amount of cash at the time because I was buying not only skins but actual SHIPS to use - not just playing Dress up Barb(ie).
So hell yea I’d buy the USS Massachusetts. I could USE it.
Skins serve no purpose other than cosmetic.
This isn’t a FTP support the ongoing development game - nothing should cost more than 9.99$
And there it is. First reply as I was typing.
Case in point.
This is - no offense - an ignorant take.
EVERYTHING has ALREADY been BUDGETED.
Pretty sure all that money just gets reinvested into the game
As is the case with every post they post in tbh.
But on the subject, I concur that the pricing for everything in this game is just not worth the money you spent in. I even have doubts pre-purchasing the Ultimate Edition, if I could refund I’d already done that.
But yes, outside of the battle pass, I really don’t intend on getting any of its other optional cosmetics.
Knowing Blizzard, they’d at one point give us ‘discounts’, so if you really want those, wait for them to put it up like how they did it for WoW, sometimes you get discount on their services e.g. change race, faction, etc. while other times they sell mounts at a discounted rate.
But yes, not spending more than the game and the occasional Seasonal battle pass for D4.
A buddy of mine back in EQ days was a game designer and made armor and textures for another game. Takes about 15 hours to make a set of armor. So that’s about 300 bucks out of pocket for the game dev. Then resell for 30 bucks a pop over hundreds of thousands of accounts. All I’m saying is use the money to fix the broken stuff and if you still have suckers buying overpriced stuff then hey…all the power to ya.
Tell us you don’t know how a corporation operates without telling us.
They gotta get the money to fund operations and pay peoples paychecks from somewhere
8600 developers gotta get paid somehow, it aint cheap for a small indie company like Blizzard.
Because people buy them…
Probably 1% of it gets put into future content. 90% goes to Bobby’s bank account. The rest probably pays legal fees.
I also feel the cosmetics are overpriced for what we get. But it’s probably just that I’m not finding enough value in the game itself.
If you consider the actual prices, getting 11,500 plat per season would get you the accelerated battle pass plus 3 sets of cosmetics (2800 + 2800 x 3). So one new set of cosmetics per month, which sounds about right. And price wise, it’s basically one Ultimate Edition of Diablo IV per season, which isn’t that far-fetched for a heavy gamer.
But the premise of that kind of spending is if the game is really good.
It isn’t. Not at the moment anyways, and things aren’t looking promising either. The lacking Season 1 makes it hard to look at this game as something that I would be playing long-term.
Yea I’m def a ‘dissatisfied customer’ and unwilling to invest another dime.
Not suffering buyers remorse or anything, but I’ve def gotten an overcooked, slightly burnt, flavorless pizza.
Ever get one like that? Weird homogeneous taste though there’s multiple toppings? Singed and burnt… leaves one wondering “Why did I buy from them again…this is the last time!”.
Def not worth the pricing for a full+ priced game.
You know, it’s quite humorous the way companies work.
Granted there’s some validity to: “Set a high price and people will value it more” - that’s a marketable fact in commerce and having been part of the late 80’s through 90’s antique craze I can attest to witnessing that innumerable times. I hated, loathed and despised the dishonesty…
Value is often not only set by the consumer but by the price tag put on an item or object.
It’s a twisted manipulation and often a way to create a barter or flat out cash grab for crap.
Tangent off:
How companies work - They’re often obstinate and put a price on something hoping to “Make the most PER Purchase”.
- In the case of D4 it’s obvious that the Market Research dept is looking at the plethora of Micro T’s out there, come to some “average conclusion”, amplified it a bit and written their nice little assessments hoping to get a bonus or gold star or pat on the head…whatever.
In REALITY - Blizz would be making money hand over fist if they sold their cosmetics CHEAPLY, affordably and most importantly - Reasonably.
Premiere for 7.99-9.99$
Standard for 3.99-4.99$
Inflation is a huge THING in the REAL world right now.
This company is out of their mind to be charging 25$ fxn dollars for
ANYTHING on a 70-100$ title.
I’d rather sell 10,000 units and make 10,000 customers happy and have them think they got a good deal vs “those other games” than have the HUBRIS and gall to think that my is worth Top Dollar and sell 1,000 units at my “no I won’t budge” price.
gtfo
It’s easy, some people are willing to pay the amount they ask for cosmetics.
It also makes items seem more “unique”, if skin were $1 everyone would buy them and people wouldn’t feel so special.
Yeah they do be having a lot of those
Some games are F2P and funded by MTX. Some games have a box price.
Activision said: “Why not both?”
greed.
/20characters.
Immortal set the greedy money grubbers bar so high they couldn’t have a free to play game with micro transactions or a full priced game with season so they had to have both…
