Why does Blizzard hate alts?

Earlier today I was running some Whispers in HC and the 5 pointer was in Fractured Peaks. The dungeon – Forsaken Quarry – that’s part of the Rogue’s specialization unlock which always rewards the aspect Encircling Blades. After getting it I decided to start up a Flurry Rogue.

So started up a Rogue, got to level 15, earned the specialization unlock and cleared the dungeon. Then went to put the aspect on some gear and… WTH? The Mystic is still locked? I completed the dungeon, what gives? Turns out you need to complete a dungeon that earns a new aspect. In HC you can see where this ends up… there’s only so many dungeons you can run early on and eventually you’ll do them all and then won’t be able to enchant gear until you reach 25 and the Mystic unlocks.

Either rework the Mystic to unlock after ANY dungeon clear or just remove the stupid level requirement for the Mystic.

All crafting should be unlocked once it’s unlocked on first character, just like D3. It is silly to wall off a character from certain abilities if you already know how to use them. It’s like punishing you for doing all their dungeons on your first character. At the very least they should drop it to 15. No codex powers till 25 makes that a pretty long journey on an alt with no campaign to do.

Agreed. I think that if you create an alt and elect to skip campaign, this should be something unlocked once you receive a piece of loot with an aspect on it or complete any dungeon, whether previously completed on another character or not.

so when exactly did your 1st level character that you just rolled up get to learn to use these abilities the character hasn’t learnt yet?

I would like to add > ITEMS !

I was playing druid ( 100 lvl now ). Got tons of barbarian weapons, few frostburns, many druid uniques.

None of them can be used, mainly 85 lvl +. It is not fun when 70% of the items you drop is only and just for your character and the rest has way to high level requirements to be anyhow relevant for alts.

What is the purpose ? To fight RMT ? Nice, you removed best part of D2 and any other ARPG.

I believe one of the devs said on Twitter that they knew this felt bad and they would look into changing it in the future.

You, the player, not the character. We don’t any longer need game experience to figure out how to use the codex. We know. Our first character should learn the codex after first receiving one but subsequent characters shouldn’t because there are none left to discover? Dumb mechanic.

In D3 adventure mode, you had access to all crafting. You had to level it up each season but you had access and getting one cache from challenge rifts leveled all crafting for that season. In D4, the jeweler or occultist just ignore you completely till you hit level breakpoints or arbitrary achievements that don’t even exist if you’ve already done them. It’s a bad system.
