It’s the year 2023 and there are gold farmers spamming chat in this $70+ game. I realistically should never, ever see a single gold farmer in chat, RMT should not be an issue. Blizzard has how many decades of experience under their belt? And they haven’t figured out a way to instantly ban these bots? The thing is, they totally could prevent this issue, 100%.
Blizzard intentionally lets these RMTers spam chat for a little bit, then bans the accounts after a while. That way, RMTers can advertise their websites and make a little money, then Blizzard can make a post about how they’re ‘coming down hard’ on RMTers on Reddit. If Blizzard just blocked their messages and banned their accounts automatically, RMTers wouldn’t want to buy more accounts to spam with.
With how they currently do things, everyone wins! RMTers make a little money from advertising their services, and Blizzard gets a cut whenever they arbitrarily decide to ban the botters and they have to buy a new account.

They don’t “let” people do anything. They can’t mind read so until the account actually breaks the rules they can’t ban it ahead of time.
RMT is most certainly not allowed and when caught people get the ban hammer.
wow thats crazy wish there was some way to detect a pattern between all these gold spammers using the exact same message and be proactive about keeping them out of the game

What chat? I NEVER see anything in chat. Is this different between console and PC? If so, why isn’t chat shared between platforms when cross platform play is enabled?? Console chat is completely dead to the point I am not sure it actually works at all

d2r is still spammed constantly in the lobby. and its not a f2p game. its not like infinite accounts are created… there’s a cost if so.
blizz has never been good with that stuff.
over on poe hardcore trade i can spend 100 hours without seeing that kind of spam. and its a f2p game. i dont get it. GGG does a much better job than blizz when it comes to that stuff. WHILE HAVING A GLOBAL CHAT IN GAME TOO
