I’m not here to winge about D4 as I’m having fun mostly but I have my tiny Druid at lvl 72 in T4 and have joined a Discord to tell me when someone spots a WB and then I log on.
I’m just trying to figure out what is the point of doing these random worldly events that seem to be about 8 hours apart, I get stuff all experience and only like 1 if not 2 legendaries.
I really like the idea of the WB thing but I don’t know why I’m doing it… is there a chance for uniques to drop more?
They should improve worldboss abit. Give us +1 level and maybe 10mill gold so it feels rewarding doing. And maybe a slightly higher chance finding a Uber Unique!
WB’s are good for weekly cache, guaranteed unique drop, rare cosmetics, and Prisms. (Prisms being the crafting reagent that allows you to socket items)
Additionally, there are some achievements / Seasonal Journey stuff tied to them, if you’re into that sort of thing.
If you’re looking for experience gains, instead do NM dungeons with mobs exactly 10 levels above your character level. This is the optimal content for experience gains. Any monster kills higher than 10 levels above you, nets the same experience as at 10 levels higher, but the monsters are harder to kill and therefore you lower your unit time efficiency. Anything lower in level than +10, nets less experience per kill and also tanks your efficiency.
To determine which NM sigil tier will make this work for you at any given character level, you follow a simple 3-step evaluation:
1.) Take your character’s current level and subtract 40.
2.) Evaluate: Will subtracting 4 from the result of Step 1, result in a number LESS than 21?
3A.) If the answer to Step 2 is YES, subtract 3 from the result of Step 1.
3B.) If the answer to Step 2 is NO, subtract 4 from the result of Step 1.
That final result is the Sigil Tier you need to run, to guarantee monsters that are 10 levels higher than you.
It’s nice when it’s available especially when rotating through alts. Basically it’s bonus every time. But it’s not worth sitting around 30 minutes just to do it.
False.
Loot doesn’t even ‘scale’ with WB. ie. Not a higher chance of say Ancestral vs Sacred.
In fact - I more often than not get a Sacred from ‘The Cache’ than an Ancestral.(I keep lists)
It’s just another random mob outside of Prisms and its chance to drop a cosmetic(no diff than Legions and(likely less than) a Gobbo).
Anyway - not being negative - just clearing up some odd misinfo.
Most people dont plan to do them, I wanna say the players that do them just happen to be online when they pop. I agree the rewards are lackluster for a “WORLD BOSS”, tbh I would rather they drop some insanely rare crafting material or parts of an armor or weapon set (similar to the greens in previous Diablos). That would have me schedule a visit, but the 8 hours is a silly block of time, every 4 would be more entertaining.
would be nice if the world boss dropped a quest piece that you could go back to whatever town you land from pressing “t” and turn in the quest piece for a town wide buff* for x hours
buff could be something like boost to gold/exps/damage/hps/defense
Thanks for the clarification. It seems the info I was basing this from, was a website that based THEIR info off of a mistranslation of some German website that was TRYING to say “uniques can drop from enemies, including bosses, but only once you unlock WT3 by killing the specific boss in that capstone dungeon.”
Apparently from that, we got a game of telephone into “world bosses guarantee uniques” which is, in fact, incorrect.
99% certain the world bosses are only around to create an illusion of online community.
The 2-3 mins of standing around bored as can be while waiting for the boss to spawn is the only time I’ve used in game chat or interacted with random players.
The fights themselves are kinda cool, too bad no one ever sees the mechanics of them though cause a druid/necro vaporized the boss in 3 seconds.
there is literally no reason to do them, they’re trivial at best and the drops aren’t worth the time it takes to get there, you could run around the overworld opening treestumps and get more loot
I’ve done probably 100 or more world bosses, you not only will never get a unique from doing one, the loot is actually pretty bad. The only reason to even do a WB, is either the seasonal challenge, or crafting mats.
My lvl 92 rogues XP bar moves by literally like a hair when i kill a world boss, there honestly just isn’t a real reason to go after them anymore, they desperately need to do something about the loot system in this game, it’s so boring it’s an insult to ARPGs lol.
