Why do mtx still cost so much?

I don’t understand why pets and mounts are so expensive, let alone skins.

Skins, okay maybe I can understand. It’s on your character, you’re seeing it 24/7 while you’re playing. For something you’re seeing so often, sure that’s fine.

Pets, not so much because they’re small and you can’t even see them most of the time.

Mounts are probably the silliest. Who is paying $20 for a mount when at this point you spend most of your time on foot anyways?

If mounts and pets were $5 instead of $20 I figure a lot more people would be willing to buy them but right not I can’t justify it. Yeah yeah, buying cosmetics in a game is bad to begin with, but if you’re going to have them at least make the prices reasonable. This is aside from the total ripoff battle pass this season

I refuse to spend a cent towards their greed. That goes for any company that is pushing microtransactions in a paid game. I also look down upon those that spend money on the store. Not because I can’t afford it, but by buying overpriced pixels, you’re telling the greedy corporations that it’s okay.

because they are pathetic.

I had a bit of a look through a bunch of the cosmetic packs while I was getting a good look at the reliquary UI.

There’s some really great artwork in there. Looking up close, the detail’s really nice and there’s plenty of options to choose from, for players who are happy to spend up a bit. which imo bodes well for players wanting to tune their wanderers appearance from a distance.

Kudos to the team that’s worked on those.

I felt like you when I look at some packs that, in particular the cat. Not that it’s not cool for its demo, I just wondered if it constitutes a bit less work than some of the other packs - albeit I’m not on the team to know what was involved.

A little feedback on the cats… their animations feel a bit not quite right yet… wonder if there’s challenges here getting the animation framework to play ball. Also the one I saw I thought another puffy face one… not everyone’s cat pref. it’s cool though… the glowy chest marking is nice contrast against the skin.

Battle pass topic I’ve put some detail in threads on that topic. so will leave that alone here.

Because Blizzard, a major public corporate entity, unlike small indie companies, has an obligation to shareholders to bring in revenue and it shows. What a lot of people call “greed” is really just normal public corporate mindset to raise shareholder value with earnings, so revenue is their primary focus. They’re not gamers, they’re corporate operatives trying to maximize revenue.

So yea, MTX is going to cost whatever the market will bear. If people buy it at the prices they charge, it will stay high priced. When they stop buying it, the prices will lower. That’s how market forces work, why is that surprising.

IT is greed, remember corpo chart needs to always go up.

Because Blizzard is trying to milk you dry with D4 like they did with Arthas and Sylvanass in Warcraft/WoW since forever ?

It’s Blizzard, aren’t you already accustomed to their practices ?

But don’t worry, GGG is going technically the same route since they got bought by Tencent…It only took one year for Tencent to completely wipe their brains, focus only on getting revenue, put a fist up in anyone mouth who dare to comment and so on…

Nobody is milking anyone. People are free to pay whatever price Blizzard charges if they want to, and not pay it if they don’t want to. It’s not like the content is a secret, anyone with minimal research can see what they’re getting before they lay out their money. You can call it “milking”, but they can’t get away with it unless people pay it. It’s typical market forces at work, and it hurts a lot of butts to learn that our precious gaming hobby has become so lucrative that it’s attracted all of the corporate bean counters. Video gaming brings in more revenue than ANY other entertainment content, including Movies, Television, Stage, all of it, combined. So naturally, the focus has changed to $$$.

you don’t feel milked for money the same way that you feel like small useless increments that bring nothing to the table are what hits your spot…You are just stating your personal opinions on a self opened thread.

People already told you why you are wrong above, you probably don’t see that perspective as you are so stuck up into your own illusion that whatever hits your spot is what it should be and not what it should be for real to everyone based on standards…If your standard is to eat from the ground and you like it that way, doesn’t mean we should all think like you…To sum it up, if the next d4 updated starts the game and literally pushes a dog to sh1t in your cereals out of the monitor, you would still feel it’s ok and you will like it…Which tells a lot from the never ending army of Blizzard white knights

Might as well as go and post in the “we love d4 thread”

Because they’ve had some analysis work out what the market will bear and how much money they will make at different price points. The price point they are at probably makes the most money.

If sales drop, they’ll adjust prices or have sales and new bundles to make up the planned profit deficit. It’s purely a profit driven calculation.

Because we have too many rich people. They dont know what to do with the money annd instead of doing good things with it they spend on stupid things like dresses on a video game lol
