$100.00 for the game and another $70.00/year to play? Then you want me to spend more on in game purchases? Get bent! I’m returning this money grab of a game! It’s just Diablo 2 in a shiny new wrapper any way. You get Sony to drop the PS+ requirement, I’ll GLADLY purchase it, it’s a GREAT game! There are PLENTY of games that are multiplayer and do not require PS+, this is just sad.

Free to download games don’t require PS+ , games you have to pay for do. This is a known fact and shouldn’t be a surprise.

You tried to play without PS plus and it didn’t work?
I read on twitter that you can play without ps plus, but you won’t have access to the chat, party, etc.

Freemium model games usually have a deal with Sony/Microsoft to bypass the online paywall, I don’t know of any paid games that do.

Nope. I’m holding a copy of the retail game in my hand now ‘PlayStation plus required’. Which makes sense because it’s online and not a free download.
I know knee jerk reaction is to blame blizzard but i dont think they have control over that.
Because Sony says you need Playstation Plus to play with other players.
Okay, but did you try and play it or are you basing this off the box? They said a PS Plus sub wasn’t required, and I was able to play without one for the Server Slam. I subbed to get Ratchet and Clank so I can’t confirm whether or not it’s required.

It is baloney but it is ultimately not Blizzard’s fault
You’ve always needed PS+ to play online with other gamers. It’s been like that for some years now.
From Sony’s FAQs on the site about PlayStation Plus:
For the majority of games that you have purchased on disc or downloaded from PlayStation Store, you need a PlayStation Plus membership plan to play online.
Most free to play games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone do not require a membership.
No idea about playing with others, but i keep refusing to buy ps+ when i login and no issues playing solo.
