It’s actually obscene, dcs, server issues? Sure, expected. 5 hour delay and we have to reinstall this ‘preloaded’ content? Just insane.
It can’t even download AND install at the same time, come on.
Guess what? CDN issues happen sometimes. So do last minute hiccups with patch data. Just ask any console player about that. It happened with PoE. It happened with several AAA standalone titles not requiring online play, and no platform is immune to this. Backend issues do crop up. The good news is that this one was for the PC and as such Blizzard didn’t have to go through the usual console submission process to get the new data approved for the respective console CDNs.

Literally if battle.net wasn’t garbage i would have already finished downloading. I download at over 200mbps and on battle.net it will drop to literal bytes per second and tell you it will be done in 24+ hours its insane can you guys just get a launch right is that even possible like for f**** sake Im tired of the curse that is battle.net and i wish i had been able buy diablo on steam at the time.
You and everyone else are pounding the CDN simultaneously. Of course downloads are going to slow down. The pipe doesn’t expand magically like yours does to let out the #2. There’s only so much bandwidth to go around and if everyone is downloading at once, it’s going to slow things down. That’s why during certain events places like Amazon go into low bandwidth mode (fewer pictures, etc.). Just kick back, make your VoH snacks, and hopefully by the time your download finishes the login license error issues will have been resolved and you can just jump right into the game.
Again, patience is a virtue here. Pissing and moaning won’t make your downloads go any faster.
Oh, and for what it’s worth, I’ll have it worse than most. I’ll be nuking my /Data folder so I can download the entire game fresh so my install is contiguous and in a state that gives me the best load times. It has to do with how CASC can become a royal mess after major patching and slow down significantly. For an expansion launch I know it’s far better to just grab it all new at once to have the fastest loading install I can get. It’s one of the few reasons I miss the MPQ encapsulation system, as that didn’t get dog slow after large amounts of patching.

That would only be applicable if it only happened during high volume events but unfortunately it is just like this all the time no matter what which is why in this particular instance i am complaining because it happens far to often but i will also correct you on something… you are simply wrong about how bandwidth works in this case lmao here is my example 100000 people download on steam and everyone downloads at full speed based on their own physical hardware limits, 100000 download on battle.net and i get dropped to 5 Bytes and hover at 15kb for 15 to 20 min before recovery for it to just repeat endlessly until the download completes. This is a service issue NOT just simply a bandwidth issue. GTFO with your sass lmao

Patch is identical in size to pre-patch. Going by the reintroduction of the DLSS bug also from months ago, I figure the wrong version entirely was pushed.

I never get to pre install as I am steam player 
I will only update when I get home 5 hours later
Try to close and reopen your launcher, i was stuck under 60kbs/s now im over 4mb/s
Ty now is 6-7 MB/s
