I see the Trade channel be used to advertise Duriel runs and sell eggs, etc. Is there an alternate channel, or can they be made? Or is there a Discorde channel. I just want to get run through some higher NM or a higher Duriel. I have all the mats.
There’s an “official” D4 discord but I’d be careful using it, people say it’s rife with RMT lately. There’s no other chat channels in the game and you can’t make any either. Nothing wrong with spamming in the trade channel for runs though. Plenty of people will join you.
If that’s true, they do not have good moderators.
I would agree with you, but as far as I know they’re just other players moderating the discord, it’s not like they have anyone from Blizzard dedicated to keeping the discord in line. Wouldn’t doubt if those moderators left for greener pastures.
Oh, I know it’s just players but as a veteran moderator, it makes me cringe when I see such incompetence. I get it, you’re not paid but don’t volunteer for a position and not do anything. Step down. Don’t keep it so you can have the title without doing anything. It’s like those people who go online to get ordained but never even go to church.
All it takes is putting “no RMT” or similar in the rules and kicking anyone who does it. Keep the place clean. If it’s that bad, they’re either supporting and turning a blind eye or just incompetent.
Considering it was supposed to be an open world, the inability to chat in more specific chat channels is definitely a shortcoming. They should at least have class specific channels like D3 has. Not sure why this was not included in the original version of the game. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, but they also did not include a group finder.
Did they specifically hold back on these simple features just to say they are adding features in the future? Or did they just release a game that was not complete? Or is there some other reason why obviously needed features were missing?
Honestly i am surprised that there aren’t channels to join in and chat in game with other players. I mean there is a local chat that rarely gets used but you need to be in the local area.
Trade is well trade and you see all sorts of stuff being posted in there from selling mats, selling runs, etc etc.
I mean I get why they don’t have it, cause to curb advertisement spammers. But the lack of being able to communicate in game is just ridiculous
This x100. Feels like they purposefully withheld obvious key features just to sell them to us later.
Yes, they released D4 half baked, so Kotick could bag the cash before takeover went through.
I made jokes a while back that with the sad way things like this are headed… with the nickel/diming, I can see being charged for update patches in the future. “You keep having disconnection issues/crashes? Buy our premium bug fix patch today! Only $19.99!”
The technology is not there yet. Not to worry though, I’m sure in another 10y time an in-game general chat will be implemented! /s
The Discord is created by, and run by, r/dibalo4 on Reddit. Blizzard has partnered with them just like they partner with websites like Maxroll, or streamers. That means they get access to some press release info and such. Blizzard also monitors it for feedback, like they do the forums, guide websites, streams, twitter, reddit, etc. Blizzard has zero to do with server control, moderation, or anything else like that.
It is not at all run by Blizzard and if they don’t keep it clean, Blizz will drop sponsorship eventually. The rules for the Discord do follow the Blizzard rules largely, but it sounds like enforcement is not where it should be.
I do find it odd that there is no group finding mechanism in D4 at all. Every other Blizzard game pretty much has it. Even D2. It just feels unfinished.
So does the UI itself. It honestly feels like D4 was originally planned as a mobile first - PC afterward type affair like D:I, only there was more time to semi-polish it vs. what D:I had when it launched. You can see it in the way that the screens starting from the map onward into the nested hell that is the D4 UI look like they were designed for players to touch the buttons, not use a mouse to navigate through it all.
well the mods do ban quite a lot of people, but its also quite easy to just create a new discord accound you know, especially for the ones selling stuff for real money.
Competent moderators know how to address this. You don’t have to let anyone into your Discord. I’ve moderated plenty and you can chose who to allow.
If they’re banning a lot of people for doing it, they’re their own worst enemies.
dont get me wrong, i wish itd work that easily. but people seem to forget those rmt sites are literally companies. so yea, they dont care at all if an account gets banned. ^^
so what are the criterias? new discord accounts? that you couldnt do for example. as new discord accounts can be legit players too.
and just like this forums, stuff cant really be monitored 24/7
Keeping new accounts out is very common to do for this very reason. Being RMT or sock accounts, which is common too.
Every one will have their own criteria but letting anyone in is not smart, especially now-a-days.
