Ancestral gear is difficult to get, ESPECIALLY with the required stats. So WHY is gear class specific?? I am talking about gear that other classes can wear such as gloves, pants, boots, etc… Having to find specific gear for new classes with builds is extremely frustrating when you have the piece of gear in your stash with a big X on it saying Rogue ONLY. I just found a GG two handed mace playing a necro which I have no use for but would be awesome in a Barb build, but it says Necromancer ONLY…WTF??? There is no rationale for this except to frustrate us, which happens season after season

Some of the skins are locked into classes even though the actual piece of gear could technically be used in another class normally.
Isn’t the only class specific gear stuff with class specific stats?
Sometimes you can remove the stat or aspect that has class locked it and make a useful item for another class. Sometimes.

Yes you can sometimes break an item out to another class like this i think there are videos in it but there are some skins that lock you out.
Im a druid main and ran into this issue when trying to unlock some 2 handed maces to barb.

There are two ways items get class locked. Class specific affixes and aspect, which can be fixed if it only rolls one class specific affix and you enchant it away. The other is if it rolls on a class specific base and there’s nothing that can be done about it. There are druid only staves and sorc only staves, necro only foci and sorc only foci, etc.
It would be nice if there was better transparency with these items so that people know if an item is class locked due to affixes/aspect or if it’s the item base.

Its beacuse the same lazy d3 design. And comes down to main stat problem being thr best stat on items. Itemization is so bad on so many leveles cant even describe it. I was happy when D4 got announced but i was like if they make another game with Item Power the game will be bad. Item Power makes every item useless before max level. Just like generator spender stuff.
To bad i bought it bcz they dont deserve my money. The lore nostalgia made me buy the game and expansion.

This is one of the issues with itemization within D4. In D2, if you needed faster cast rate, you can farm a pair of magefists as early as normal Diablo and they’d be your forever gloves.
Maybe it’s this way now because the devs don’t want max level builds needing to go back into an easier difficulty just to farm a specific item. However, this way items just don’t matter until level cap and this makes everyone want to get levelling over with as soon as possible.
I think you all aren’t looking close enough. Every case I have ever seen there is always a +skill or class specific resource stat or legendary effect.
gear, except for stuff like shields, quaterstaffs etc isnt class specific. You can turn them class specific tho if the main stat isnt supported by your class, or the aspect on it is for a specific class.
Solution: put an aspect for the other character you want to use the item on on the item, and if the main stat also doesnt work, you need to reroll it as well.
I think there are class specific skins Nyurei, I had issues with trying to “unlock” some 2 handed maces from druid to barb.

As long as they can equip the piece in general, it’s only locked (with the exception of a recent bug I think, with polearm or something) if an aspect or affix on it is not available to the class, and this includes main stats. If you can remove them, then the class can equip it.
This is easy for aspects, but if it’s affixes, there’s nothing you can do if it’s more than one, and if it’s one, that’s the one you have to re-roll so hopefully the other two are actually useful.
The aspect effect is necromancer only.
Not the actual mace.
Just put another aspect on it

bro, relax, you can buy in the trading system, oh no wait, diablo 4 doesn’t have a trading system. Nothing, just keep digging like a slave for the next 1000 hours with no results.
God forbid finding your own loot in a loot hunt game. If you want Trading Simulator 2024 it goes into early access in a couple weeks.

I have some gear with Dex on one of my sorcs… if you remove the class aspect and it still says it is class specifc, go to the enchanter. If you want the stat that is blocking you, enchant it and select no change… no ore class specific
