Try doing some tormented bosses and pit 70+
Problems become clear as day even for the most casual players.

Sorc wrecks trash mobs and overworld content, that’s never been an issue. So much so that during the beta when we were all level capped at 25 everyone else screamed “Sorc too OP” and we got nerfed into the ground. This became evident almost immediately after launch when most Sorc players hit a wall trying to push past the 60’s in NMDs.

The reduction of difficulty that occurred in S2 papered over our problems, but the Pit is once again exposing the fundamental problems with the class.

Like you i was having fun and amazed by the FO sorc in NM dungeon. The I get to pit 55 freezing trash like nothing. But can’t manage to kill boss with OS mecanics and low mediocre single target dps.

No I’m just waiting to drop gloves with greater aspect on frozen orb… To reach 60+ pit. But I will ptobably still be one shotted by shadow bosses invocations.

I agree with others answers to your post, the flaws of sorc class become obvious pass 60+ pit.

In short, regardless of build, sorcerers have amazing aoe but trash single target, so bosses are awful.

Its single target damage is awful at higher pit level and it obscure most one shoot mechanic throw at you and lead you to the hell gate in most fight :grimacing:.

The only good build for PIT still Blizzard and Flameweaver, still nothing compare to barb and necro. Thats the reason all this salty coming from.

Now I get it. I have pretty amazing gear, and its a brick wall at Pit 61 and up. Slaughter all the trash, then its a 3 minute fight with the boss before getting one shot by one of the echoes. Same story with Uber Lilith and the Tormented Ubers.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Bosses are all but untenable, especially in the Pit because we rely on a lot of “reduced damage from burning targets” but the shades Pit bosses summon can’t be damaged so everything they do can one shot us at higher Pit tiers (as low as 60 really).

It stems from the fact that D2 and D3 had mercs you could hire. Sorc always had a blocker and was more focused on enemy pressure and positioning behind your merc tank. Those two games also didn’t have tight corridors like in D4 dungeons. Blizzard ignored the ROLE of a sorcerer when designing the game.

Everything we complain about starts there.

My main gripe is that by the time you have Teleport and both the shields you haven’t got much choice left in your build.

My sorc has mediocre gear most of my greater affixes are crap +health all masterworks 4/12 but I do have a ring of starless skies and I did a pit 63 before work tonight and cleared it no problem. Anyone saying frozen orb is bad at 50-60 just isn’t doing something right.

show your frozen orb pass pit lvl 100, then none of us will be salty.

Casual players never understand

It’s always casual players opening their mouths out about things they do not know I agree

He stated that he was new to sorc, no real need to continue emphasizing it.

Yeah, just takes some time behind the class. Gets more annoying if you try alternatives, with little difference in performance. Try to get ring of starless skies if you dont have one; its one of the few good multipliers sorc has access too. Look for multipliers in aspecs while you have a shield too.

Its cute how folks assumed im a casual, but ok. I took multiple characters to end game in every season but 3 in this game, and put hundreds of hours into D3 and D2.

Then show your frozen orb sorc pass lvl 100,
