I’ve played all 7 seasons of this game for 150+ hours each, and I have never seen a mythic unique drop outside of a boss fight. Never once. Pit, NMD, Helltide, seasonal mechanics…never seen a single one. Talking with a few people in Discord today they all shared the same experience.
This is terrible. Boss rotations are so boring. You literally stand there while someone in the group one-shots the boss over and over and over again and just pray for a mythic to drop. And now that legendary rune drops have been nerfed into the ground, they are so rare that crafting a mythic is basically a pipe dream. It feels really bad.
One of the best things about D2 was that random holy sht moment when a high rune or crazy unique dropped randomly out in the world. D4 is missing this entirely.
I’ve actually had several drop in Helltide, one in Pit, one from a Whisper Cache. To answer your question however, it’s because the drop rates are higher at Bosses. Exactly how it’s supposed to be.
Was how the game was originally intended to be. They were meant to be winning lottery tickets that maybe a handful of people would find in any given season. They weren’t meant to drop like candy, you’d be lucky if your great grandchildren saw one.
People complained, so now you can farm them easier from bosses.
When you can easily farm dozens of them per season there really isn’t a reason to not have them drop more in the wild. Would be huge for the super casual crowd that doesn’t farm them and rarely (if ever) gets one.
Yeah this is my thinking as well. Boss rotations are just so boring. It’s actively bad gameplay. If they dropped while doing other activities it would be a huge boon IMO.
How am I contradicting myself? I stated they are super easy to farm. Not sure where you would be getting that I said they weren’t easy to farm.
My point was that they are so easy to farm there isn’t a reason to not have them drop in other places too. Whereas if it was hard to get one it would make less sense.
And why shouldn’t they get one? It’s a game. They shouldn’t enjoy it?
They do drop in other places, it’s just far less likely. So you’re saying they’re super easy to farm, but that you shouldn’t have to farm them, that they should be even easier to find by increasing the non-boss drop rate for them. You said…
So, why should it be super easy for the super casual to get one if they’re not willing to farm for them?
And since they literally are easy to farm, why shouldn’t the super casual be expected to make the effort to farm them?
Your statements contradicted themselves, just as I said. It’s easy so it should be even easier? Makes no sense.
Everyone always has to throw that jab in there right in the ribs.
“QQers” “Whining” “Complaining”
Considering the absolutely insulting and absurd drop rates on launch were - Win the Lottery jackpot AND get struck by lightning 1/2 a dozen times odds.
In Blizz fashion they flipped the script and made them ultra common vs a sensible and measured approach. Also they made them common via the most boring means imaginable.
FURTHER they made them, to a degree, MANDATORY vs “Nice to have” or “Build Altering” - they’re status quo staples by design.
Which leads to - Mythics/Ubers are not tradeable.
Summon materials are.
RMT.
Involvement & complicity or is it complacency and incompetence. to see the truth of the matter here.
I had (since they upped the chance) like 2 doombringers as random nightmare dungeon drop, 1 tyrael randomly and like 3 shakos just from gambling, it’s rare but possible.
What you are probably doing is mistaking every mom and pops elite unique in d2 for t87 ones. Those didnt drop at any normal rate and was something you exclusively had to trade for 99% of the time. Same with high runes. Note however that in D2 that level of power was superfluous and not needed to do any and all content. That is not the case in d4 and thus I find you expectations for higher drop rates somewhat reasonable.
I had a Ring Mythic drop from Kurast Undercity last night, if that helps. On my 2nd Unique Key.
It should take some time, sure. But currently the way to get them is too mindnumbingly boring farming bosses in a rota over and over.
The point, I believe, was that since you can relatively easily get them by doing something mind-numbingly boring, no harm would be done by letting them drop a bit more often elsewhere. People who want them ASAP would still farm, everyone else might just get lucky.
Bosses were supposed to let you target farm uniques in general not just Mythics. They don’t need to be best at both.
Before you wrote this, do you even realize that their drop chances were 1000 times lower than drop chance of mirror in PoE?
The chances that were there at the beginning speak only about the absolute incompetence of the devs.
you can get mythic tributes for undercity from whisper caches and the world boss: these feel like they are a good chance of getting a mythic on t4. other than that, i haven’t seen any out side of bosses and those.
I know exactly how rare they were, that was the point I was making. Sorry should I have added more ‘great’ before the grandchildren? Great great great great grandchildren. Fixed it.
