Why am I dead? A question players should not be asking

Literally every single time I die in this game I have no idea why it happened.

In Mario, there are ditches that kill you instantly, but it’s obvious. Diablo 4 feels like Mario but every coin has a 0.01% chance to just immediately killed you.

I’m fine with having a one shot mechanic but put something visual on the screen like Nintendo did 30 years ago with a hole in the ground so that it’s obvious that I die if I stay there.

I want to know: who works at blizzard that thinks this is fun?

I kind of know what you mean, though it will tell you what monster killed you, and you can learn if it was elemental dmg etc or check your armor.

But i have had something like you describe, not sure if its lag or like the code gets glitched out, i usually notice lack or response and a slight stall before it happens, after a year i can feel when its going to happen most times.

And yeah its like i am doing fine nothing on that level is touching me and bam oneshotted, res keep going, nothing one shots me and i clear. I mean its kind of odd.

Where as if i jump into a capstone 30 levels early, it feels obvious why i do for example, and i get through nothing without struggle.

So yeah idk, this game is a kiss and cursed experience for me sadly. Pretty sure i only log in now becasue it is easy to play when i am tired and offers great visuals. But deep down i ask myself i could be playing a million other games and not dealing with this frustration. Addiction maybe. there is that side of i think. Which isn’t great, i should be playing becasue the game is great, not becasue i am addicted, which i borderline on.

Sadly when money and lots of money lines the pockets, peoples enjoyment an wellbeing come second, or poker machines would not exist.

More death feedback for sure wouldn’t hurt.

I’m no advocate one way or the other but dying to things that you don’t see is often a consequence of high latency or bad ping.

I have wireless Internet, and I’m well-versed in the subject of dying to things that you cannot see.

Probably shadow lilith or whatever it is on pit boss. That or the red spark fireball things. Not sure how the outlander or whatever rogue guy kills me. Snipe shot or something. Those get me alot. Im switching to fireshield sorc build just to have a chance vs boss as I just got shako and crafted uber ring and resource is no longer an issue.

yeah its probaly the slight glitch i get before it happens is the bad ping or latency.

It would explain why i die reset and then i am all good against the same monsters.

This did happen when i played guil wars back on adsl, so yeah its a mmo issue more likely now i think about it, just seems to happen alot faster with this game, so it seems like its smooth and you just got one shot, but if you look closely, you can feel it go out of whack,

which probably means all your defensive timing gets screwy and we die. I wish we could have offline, its a isometric arpg hack and slash you need that response time and no latency. Its the same level of trying to play a fighter without good ping.

Suddenly you cant play and you loose, its not great and i often wonder why i buy these games lol. When so many great offline ones exist.

Im sure this isn’t even relevant to non casuals… But as a mere lvl 40 pit runner, The things that kill me are those annoying a$$ pillars that shoot lasers at each other.

yeah i am not a fan of that attack tbh, so much red lighting all the time, and the attack speed on those is near impossible to track for a sober mortal.

Red lazers are def an instant gib for many of us scrubs.

I dont care if you have a MaxHP value of 2: nothing in this game should oneshot you, ever.

A new tab in the chat window for a combat log would be really nice. I recognize there are WAY to many numbers all the time for that to be reasonable to track. But it would be nice if you could manually enable it for test dummy use, or at bare minimum have it populate with the last handful of attacks that hit you before a death.

Can you at least allow third party programs that analyze DPS and damage taken?

NO HERE IS YOUR GRUEL NO COMPLAINING

Some of us like a challenge and want to do content that poses a threat to us.

If nothing can kill you because you stat pad to meat certain Bps what’s the point of playing with no risk?

All of the stuff you guys complain about is stuff you can simply avoid with clear hit markers that show its coming in.

I actually mind the one shots less than the sudden poison that even drinking all my potions won’t save me from even though resists are capped. Killing me quickly is better than the downward spiral of WTF?

I agree. At the least I would like to see something like
Killing blow [skill name][damage type] on the death screen

Honeatly surprised responses aren’t filled with cries of get gud or you have a bad build because you died. These threads tend to get filled with them.

And more info on what caused death would be helpful.

Get good, learn to dodge.
Sorry had to do it.

Honestly though if players that have cleared 100 plus can do it you can too you just need to you guessed it get better at dodging stuff that’s going to kill you. Instead of complaining why don’t you try getting better at reading boss attacks?

You can’t have it both ways, you asked blizzard to make the game harder they did now you complain that its too hard.

In Last Epoch when you die is written what attack and damage type killed you.

If you want to know why you are dead just look at your chatbox.

Man, one post complaining that they can’t die at level 3 (which still makes me :man_facepalming:) and now this.

I refuse to be one of those people who say “git gud” but amybe take a closer look at your build, resistances, armor… something ain’t working for you.

And as for telegraphed atks? Well, that seems situational. In as much that if you are in a HT during a frenzy, I doubt you would notice too much.

The only atk I used to hate beyond all was the corpse bow that would one shot you from off screen but that was in the past.

or they could just allow third party programs that give a detailed analysis of the statistics involved in damage rather than numbers that pop on the screen for less than a second
