I picked up D4 on the recent sale and thought I would at least experience the story. I did enjoy the campaign and story very much, but I am having a hard time enjoying the post campaign end game. I think the reason is that it is missing the work / reward dopamine feedback loop. When I think of past Diablo games that feeling of that great drop is going to happen any minute now is just not there. With this game I know for a fact that that great game changing drop is not coming EVER and it just kills my desire to continue. I really don’t like loot design this time around with all of the situational damage modifiers. Too hard to determine if gear is an upgrade or not.
Could be bored to death because its hell boring…pardon the pun. Your not the only one who feels this way. Its like they designed a whole bunch of messy stuff thew it at you and said enjoy sorting this out. Most of the game is aggrevating. The campaign was pretty cool tho.
D4 is much more about the paragon board/build than gear unfortunately. I mean there are of course preferable rolls but the board and build are the foundation.
Is the paragon board the same every time? If so everyone is just going to copy the most effiicient setup and as usual everyone is going to be exactly the same. If that is the way it is, I am definitely not interested.
Don’t feel bad I bought the game Nov 6 and after one month of playing and getting to the endgame it feels like Diablo 3 all over again. Diablo 4 had a tiny shiny moment and then lost its spark when beating Lilith. I have not touch D4 for a week and now thinking if I regret buying D4 in the first place.
Which boards you attach, glyphs you use, and nodes you go for are build dependant. But if you are copying a meta build, then you are doing whatever path the website put together for you.
Affix bloat is awful though.
I honestly don’t know how anyone thinks doing a handful of nightmare dungeons over and over is fun. It is mind numbingly boring for me, just can’t do it.
You wouldn’t have done Abattoir of Fun for more than 30 minutes the last time you played, would you ?
Because that would kill it for sure.
Everytime I read comments like this where someone says D4 was too similar to D3 I must smile. Because I played a lot of D3 and I always wish D4 was more similar to D3 than it is.
People dont realize that when they resort to just copying others they are bypassing a huge portion of the experience. Part of the fun is figuring things like this out for yourself. People copy others and then wonder why they arent interested
so true. i do take guides into consideration once im lvl 100, but its really just to have a rough idea on the direction i want to take. after that its still a lot of finetuning and adjusting to find a build that i personally thinks is the best for me.
This is exactly right. D4 has horrid itemization, therefore, no satisfying item hunt.
They tried copying some elements of D2 with S2, but ended up creating these elements in a haphazard way. And honestly, things like target farming and uber bosses only work if the itemization is excellent to begin with. What’s the point in target farming if I’ve already found the vast majority of uniques I can target farm, out of the potential 20? Especially since that point in the game (of being able to target farm) comes at a point where I (not only have those uniques, but also) have built my entire character around the items I’ve found?
They keep throwing new bosses our way, for some reason, but failing to do anything at all with itemization.
They’ve claimed big itemization fixes are coming in S4, but all they’ve talked about are QoL fixes relating to items, like combining affixes and storing legendary aspects in the codex. Okay, that’s definitely more convenient, but it won’t create a satisfying item hunt or feedback loop.
Totally agree.
The only reason I found the game playable for as long as I did is because I respec like 20-30 times per play-through/character, theorycrafting and optimizing.
If it wasn’t for that, I probably would have quit after the campaign.
Because the itemization & skills are ?
Yes! and the fact we have to wait 2 seasons ( 6 months) for changes is the wost part, then if the changes are bad … wait another 6 months … rinse and repeat.
稀有暗金掉落概率太低了,并且打督瑞尔需要的物品获取也很麻烦,特别是打了好几百场督瑞尔却仍然得不到想要的装备,这实在是太无聊了,从中我享受不到任何游戏的快乐
in d4 we need to pay or build some things to kill booses…that thing/mechanic its killing the entire game.
Same it would be a lot more fun if it was. I’ve been playing more D3 than D4 lately.
I made a post earlier where I tried to specify all the D3 things that I am missing in D4.
It’s probably because you didn’t find things interesting enough. I think everyone gets bored eventually. It just a question of how long and how far before it triggers.
You are probably bored faster because your threshold for this game is smaller. I am getting bored too now but I have done more things in game than you by a factor of 10x (of course I am exaggerating about that factor or probably underestimating myself too).
locking rerolling mats behind helltides and limiting the quantity dropping further sucks the enjoyment out of leveling / build creating. I only made it to 80 sofar, but while leveling / glyph leveling i found some items that needed rerolls and because i don’t spend time also doing helltides I’m missing the mats to attempts this. It’s one of the things i miss from D3 - playing whatever part of the game I wanted i was still gathering mats to reroll items instead of segmenting gear progression into specific isolated areas.
