Why all the lag?

I don’t understand why we still have so much lag in the game. Why does Blizzard think as a company that its acceptable?

If I went to the movies and they slowed down the movie where the actor’s voices are talking real slow to where I couldn’t watch the movie, and then it “disconnected” and I had to start it over that would be unacceptable.

If I paid to go to a amusement park to ride a roller coaster and it went at a slow pace, that would be unacceptable.

If I went to the casino and I spin a slot machine and it took 5 mins for each spin to finish until the last one and then you “disconnect” that would be unacceptable.

I can’t think of another entertainment service that if you paid for, that poor quality of delivery is just accepted.

The lag has gotten far worse for me since 1.1.2. I didnt even have many problems before, but since this patch I get lag, stuttering, and rubber banding even alone in dungeons.

Actually today is the first time since early beta Ive dealt with lag and rubberbanding.

This game is like herpes, the gift that keeps on giving

Servers and bandwidth cost money. You can fill in the rest.

the rubber banding has been terrible since last patch: i guess they are already cutting back servers to save some cash. yay!

For what it’s worth, Grindhouse did this via a “Missing Reel” in their 1st feature and it was fantastic. (I highly recommend skipping the 2nd feature though. The ads are great, the 1st movie is great, but the second one is just Tarantino dialogue without the payoff)

The best lag is when other players come into your screen… Bliz doesn’t have a clue what is going on with the game.
To busy making builds with devs using basic attacks… reeeeee

I suspect the lag/latency spiking isn’t endemic to the patch itself. It’s a symptom of the larger problem of the developers putting in infinite respawns in certain easy to farm locations where the player has virtually zero chance of being in danger. In other words, those spots are being botted like crazy right now. I’ve found and reported two of them where I witnessed multiple players doing the same thing: continually firing off ice shards and the instant a “hit” is detected the real damage abilities are poured on. It’s literally identical across each of the spots I run into with infinite respawns or super fast elite respawns.

Many instances of this combined will present a major uptick in latency in the same zone. I had latency spiking between 200ms and 3500ms, and Blizzard wasn’t under a DDoS. As I got to the last objective in the zone I needed to complete (a cellar) I saw what I described above, with multiple characters positioned to swarm the respawns in a cornered/isolated area where they aren’t in danger from mobs from the surrounding areas.

Likely a combination of the added overhead from the new stash tab (I doubt they actually fixed the anti-pattern that was limiting storage space, at least not completely), combined with the extra overhead caused by the duping fix (the whole argument for being always online was to supposedly prevent cheats like this, but we ended up with the worst of both worlds - who could have predicted that?).

The only common factor between all the people lagging in D4 is that they’re all playing D4, which isn’t evidence that the game servers are lagging. That’s called confirmation bias. My friend rarely lagged and now I rarely lag, but it must be a problem with the game servers.

There’s no justification for the game to continue running this bad no one is even playing.

Game is built on a house of cards coding like loading other peoples stashes when you zone in or whatnots. How did they think that would be a good thing to do?

I jumped into Hell Tides tonight and it was skipping and rubber-banding all over the place for a good hour and half or so before I couldn’t take it anymore and took a break.

Lagging and rubberbadning a ton past few days. Game basically unplayable. Resorted to slowly walking around, following a guide, and collecting some missing altars of lilith. Because doing anything else was pure suicide. Normally nothing would scratch me in the open world but thanks to lag it got scary a few times (I play HC). Got a few altars then turned off the game…

When server performance drops big time it’s usually one of the 3 reasons:

  • no devs maintaining it or new dev who is not competent trying to maintain it
  • cut cost and downsize servers
  • server capacity scale according to players - this has many spill on effects, for example, load balance benefit from large pool of servers and the opposite is true.

Hell the world is empty I did a Hell Tide tonight and it was skipping and rubber-banding checked near by players there were 8 people it got so bad I just quit for tonight so sad
