there is still grind in Diablo 4? it has nothing to do with level grinding but more so the fact that there are no items to grind for, that’s a way bigger problem
Yea because level grinding doesn’t really exist because a player can get there fast af via grouping up. People are simply choosing to go slower via solo play. There’s nothing wrong with going slower (some enjoy it), but a player could perceive a punishing experience deficit by doing so.
And I agree, the items to grind for are either nonexistent or take too long to drop. I sympathize with the poor itemization argument.
The longer it takes to level the worse these things feel.
Let’s say you don’t find any item upgrades between level 75 and level 85; now let’s say it takes approximately an hour per level, that’s 10 hours of grinding content without improvement outside of paragon.
That doesn’t really feel good in a game where farming loot and improving your gear is a considerable part of the experience.
Now let’s say we double the xp amount necessary to level, now you are spending 20 hours with no real progress. Who wants to spend 20 hours in a loot based game not getting any worthwhile loot?
Not to mention that the longer you play the more noticeable the lack of content variety becomes.
Honestly, I think the opposite is more true; if leveling were faster people would likely worry less about how long it’s taking to upgrade their gear or how repetitive end game activities are simply because they have a much lower time investment to reward ratio.
People want to feel like their time is yielding some sort of value, and that currently isn’t the case.
Exactly, and you know what will make users feel their time was valued? A proper reward for their time spent on doing an activity in the game. As is, game doesn’t reward you at all. Trash Goblin kills? Despite being rare spawn, gives trash loots. Butcher? Trash loots. NM Dungeons done in higher tier than your level? Trash loots. Helltides? Trash loots for running around boring events to events for an hour. Time spent is not valued to the point that the game feeling like it was made with p2w shop in mind.
I agree, but if it took longer, then the devs wouldn’t have so many people hitting top level and saying they are literally bored. Also, the devs could’ve added more incremental rewards or systems to give players that positive feedback/value.
Accelerated experience is the reason people are going 20 levels with no upgrades though. They are accelerating 20 levels beyond their gear and yielding nothing of value.
What I’m trying to say is that the devs should’ve slowed down the experience gain so people had more time to find good loot all the while still gaining experience and better incremental rewards. When the experience and incremental rewards stop, then the game stops. This game can’t exist on a unique grind alone post 100.
Many people are getting bored long before hitting max level though.
It’s easy to look at these forums and assume that most people are max level and burnt out on the game due to the shear volume of posts regarding it; but these forums make up an absurdly small portion of the games total population, as do content creators.
The vast majority of players are more than likely somewhere between levels 65-85, and are already burnt out on the level grind long before hitting the max.
I’m not sure this is really accurate.
After hitting level 70 and opening up WT4 with the exception of Uber uniques you have access to the entire loot pool and your level has little to no effect on your gear selection any more; if you get a near BIS item early upon entering into WT4 and don’t find a replacement for 10-20 hours worth of game play it doesn’t matter whether or not you’ve gained 1 level or 30 in that time because your level has no real impact on gearing any more.
All that leveling has an impact on at that point is giving you a sense of progress and providing paragon; slowing it down just makes progress feel slower and that’s it really.
Splitting experience gain in groups? what are you on lol.
You do know monsters are harder to kill in groups right, so why have harder to kill monsters for less EXP?
Monsters are harder to kill in groups? or they just have more hp and dmg? You are in a group. You are getting help. Your EXP should either be cut or not increased at all.
When did they accelerate leveling?
If you want to slow down your leveling speed just do less content per hour/relax and chill.
Also, don’t run optimal level range NM dungeons +3 to your level, as long as your clear speed is fast enough to make it worthwhile.
You get accelerated experience for being in groups.
I personally play solo. I do relax and chill; however, a player can perceive playing solo as creating an experience deficit compared to someone running to the top of the mountain as fast as they possibly can. To each their own, yes, but they could also do this without having a jet pack on their backs via an accelerated experience boost.
Id like to see infinite paragon like D3 honestly
People are saying “i’m glad they made it easier” and similar things, implying they changed something?
they roughly doubled xp gained from nightmare dungeons and helltides a week or two ago
It’s not that it take so long is that at 70 lvl all my items are like 800+ ilvl with zero progress towards max LVL.
And it feels like you playing something with zero reward
So you want the 70-100 part to take forever? You want to run around with level 70 gear for thousands of hours?
It is on the devs to produce a game worth playing. I am only railing against the format the game is in right now. There is a hard-level cap. Accelerated leveling is unnecessary if there is a hard-level cap because eventually you are going to reach it. Players are pissed that they got to 100 so easily, are bored out their minds because of no end game, when the end game, as intended by the devs, was to grind gear until you hit 100. People are hitting top level fast af and they have the same gear from 70 anyway. Who cares if a player spent 1000 hrs running around in it or not? And now, they have no reason to play because there’s no experience gain post 100. There’s literally nothing to do besides grind gear and players aren’t gaining experience, so what is the point? I’m saying MAYBE if players were at least gaining experience towards a higher level, maybe some of them would still play. Accelerating to top level is ruining player’s experience just because it is a thing. Players are going to exploit whatever tools the devs give them. My question remains: Why the need for accelerated leveling at all?
Currently, the devs are pissing off both worlds of play. Both those that want to accelerate in levels and those that want to play more like D2 and take forever. This game literally has an identity crisis because the devs wanted it both ways. It doesn’t work like that and now they have alienated everyone. Only the most die-hard fans will remain.
The community needs to make up their mind… first it took too long and now it’s too fast.
You can get BIS gear from level 60 so no clue what you are trying to get at here.
yes thats one part of what I am trying to get at. A player gets BIS gear at level 60 and then what? A player gets to 80 fast af still wearing the same gear. So, going fast or going slow doesn’t matter, a player is going to hit 100 with probably the same gear, so why does it matter how fast a player gets there with a hard-level cap?
Right now, there’s no incentive to play post 100 AND there’s no incentive to keep leveling after a player acquires BIS gear. It’s the worst of both worlds. My whole thing is either take accelerated leveling away, so people have at least one incentive to work towards a goal. Otherwise, take the hard-level cap off. Some of what made D2 and D3 special is their prestige around play time and the level people were. In D4, they totally got rid of that prestige/incentive.
