I ain’t reading all that.
Your post
They better start listening and do it fast .
Do you actually think they sold 600 million copies?
Anyway, latest sales numbers are around 10 million.
While i agree with most of this, theres 1 thing you’re wrong about. Its not our game. It is blizzard’s game whether you like it or not. Just like BGIII from larian, FF from square enix, and skyrim from bethesda games, these companies make the game they want to make. Not the game you want to play. If you dont like the game, dont buy it. The only power we have is our wallet. Its extremely powerful too. Now this does get a little funky when players have already purchased the game, then these gane changes come in and ruin the game. Thats where the horrific perspective and bad blood is drawn from. The question is, will blizzard pull a Hello Games (No mans sky), and turn diarrhea into gold? My vote, probably not for a while. It took them many years to work put D-III and its still controversial.
I cant stress the importance of its our game .
This should be the attitude of any IP holder .
If not, you are doomed to fail
Sigh…why must games be so expensive now? I’m priced out by what is likley to be one of the greatest game experiences there will ever be. I never thought I’d see a game as ambitious as BG 2 again, and then here we are. I hope it’s all people say it will be. It’ll be a wonderful thing for them to experience.
Its for casual console players who will never look at anything about the game online, nor watch any media on the game, and play it for what it is, and move on. They might as well start stuffing cereal boxes with free CD-ROMS of D4 at this point.
Its no longer a game for ARPG fans. This should be very clear by now. So get to enjoying that campaign and heckin cool cutscenes, ignore everything else, and just accept Diablo is over as a respected IP for ARPGs (if it wasnt already in D3 that is)
They didnt even try to compete with POE is what bothers me most, like they were 100% ok handing over the crown to GGG.
D4 is broken, and they said so themselves. So they do a “balance” patch? Balance based on what exactly? The extensive testing they did of resistances? Then release that balance patch without the fixes of those broken core mechanics?
No this is a FU play seasons, spend give us your money. Because we say we are doing the right thing.
They don’t care about their game. They only care of the visibility of their monetization (even after they made a profit). Hense the visibility, push to the seasonal cycle, admission, and release of broken, VERY broken things.
Online “service” lol I laugh at that every time I read/here it.
Signed, sealed delivered Im yours!
Want to know how to do it propperly?
Look at Larian studios and Baldur’s Gate 3… it’s going to be the adventure/rpg game of the century.
wow the entitlement is so cringe
the active players are very high and the game is still doing very well, its less than 1% of players that are quitting the game over S1, keep crying about the game, ill keep enjoying the game, my whole blizzard friends list is still playing the game every day and loving it
And for the love of god, PLAYTEST THE STUFF BEFORE YOU LAUNCH IT!
Every single issue was “well we learned nm 100 is too hard.” Did you not test nm 100?! We learned this and that. It’s obvious they don’t test anything.
Keep defending the billion dollar company that treats it’s workers like trash all you want.
But this game is trash, and everyone NOT complaining about the current state of it are about as dumb as bricks.
Blizzard is not giving you anything extra for having your nose all the way up their brown hole.
they need to just leave it alone stop micromanaging the game. your not going to make money and at this rate your bid for game of the year has just been dropped to not in this lifetime. some how I lost both my legendary weapons for my wearbear. WTF. I have no intention of season anything. I want a Diablo game with a decent storyline where I can explore everything. I can’t do that if they keep changing everything. the review said create your character based on your playstyle experiment but they made that so plucking hard and expensive your kinda just stuck. Let the players play how they want. if they want to crunch the numbers so they get a billion damage cool. if they want to explore everything let them. folks want to do the story and be done cool. I don’t like this new character every week/day nonsense. especally since I have only redid my character once. Blizzard built a giant playground than got pissed because folks were not playing they why they want. this is truning out to be the worst Diablo ever.
I’VE MENTIONED THIS MANY TIMES SINCE THE REDICULOUS LAST PATCH AND THE DEATH OF TWO OF YOUR CLASSES. iN HOPES THAT YOU CAN SEE THE COMMON SENSE AND EASIEST WAY TO KEEP YOUR ENTIRE FANBASE HAPPY AND ENTERTAINED BY THE GAME. IF A CLASS OR BUILD IS OVERPOWERED ABOVE OTHER CLASSES OR BUILD YOU DON’T FIX THE PROBLEM IN A NEGATIVE WAY BY NERFING IT TO DEATH. YOU FIX IT IN A POSSITIVE WAY WITH A BUFF. DON’T NERF AND DESTROY A CLASS TRYING TO BRING IT DOWN TO THE OTHER UNDERPERFORMING CLASSES OR BUILDS. INSTEAD BUFF THE CLASSES OR BUILDS THAT ARENT PERFORMING AND BRING THEM UP TO THE LEVEL OF THE CLASSES OR BUILDS THAT ARE STRONG AKA FUN! PLAYERS ARE SPENDING HOURS, WEEKS, OR MONTHS ON THESE CLASSES AND BUILDS AND SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE REWARDED WITH AN AMAZING RESULTS WITH LOTS OF EXCITING DAMAGE NUMBERS AND DEFENSE. THEY PUT THE WORK IN AND DESERVE IT. IF YOU NERF IT YOU WASTED ALL OF THAT TIME THEY INVESTED. THAT’S WHY AND THE ONLY REASON YOU ARE GETTING THE RESPONSE YOU’RE GETTING RIGHT NOW. THE GAMES DOESN’T HAVE TO AND DOESN’T NEED TO BE SUPER EASY. MY DIABLO 3 MONK ACTUALLY HIT DAMAGE NUMBERS IN THE SINGLE DIGIT BILLIONS. IT WAS SOMEWHERE AROUND PARAGON 2500 TO 3000 AND IT WAS DEFINITLY CHALLENGED BY REALLY HIGH LVL RIFTS DESPITE THE AMAZING DAMAGE IT COULD DO. COMMON SENSE. BUFF UP TO BETTER CLASSES AND BUILDS. DONT NERF DOWN OR BELOW TO LESSER BUILDS.
SORRY FOR CAPS. I TYPED WAY TO MUCH BEFORE I RELIZED IT AND WASNT TYPING ALL OF THIS AGAIN
Mate, its all we have to go off statistically at the moment – secondary would be overall sentiment with threads and replies. If you have a better source link, feel free to share – I did say I am willing to be wrong here if the data shows otherwise.
52 replies… ill make a general reply to all of these in one.
Its quite possible that as data updates we may see that things were a bit better than flatlined. I’m not really attached to being right or wrong here, but all the information and views ive come across so far is not pointing to a successful season launch.
I can see many are doing a kind of over-generalized exaggeration of what I have actually said. The first source link is actually showing an increase in search results today, but was down yesterday – now I know search results are not the same as active players, but it hints at a trend of overall interest. Its not sufficient, which is why I added another link that adds to the picture.
I’m less dependent on search result data on opening of season – much of that can simply be driven by users searching the new season changes and guides ect. Still, that should indicate that there is more likely an increase in active players as well.
Lastly, the core points of this OP is how changes to the game are implemented, that there should be more collaboration with the presence of consensus in the community. Not to go about things by surprising us with so many changes that we didn’t want, didn’t need, and had no say in until after the fact.
Doesn’t matter. It’s useless.
If you have a choice between using false information and using no information, the best choice is using nothing. The information isn’t credible. The website itself says it shouldn’t be used the way you’re using it. So don’t use it.
Let’s put it this way. Imagine you have a bungie cord. The manufacturer of that bungie cord says that it’s only for display purposes, that it should not be used for bungie jumping. I’m here telling you not to use that cord, where as you’re jumping up and down saying “The cord is fine! Let’s go!”
misinformation.
there is currently have no real way to estimate player numbers, unless blizzard releases their actual player numbers to the public.
this is at best guessing, and at worst misinformation.
I too wish d4 was better then it is, but don’t be one of those people that spread fake news. thanks.
The first link is search results – updated
The second link is an actual active player count – doesn’t look updated
I’m not lying in anyway by saying such sources are something else than what they’re. I’m literally repeating that it IS search results and then I looked for an actual stat count link. Steam stats are not good enough, barely anyone ports the game onto that platform anyway. Its a crossplay game so you have console gamers to that probably never touch these forums or engage with them.
Basically we lack the available information to see all concurrent players on all platforms. I don’t think its fair to say the data shared is “false” – its not like it has been fabricated or misrepresented as something else. The data is fine but we can make false interpretations from it.
I guess if we want to be strictly technical and scientific about it – then you can’t conclude if the season was positively or negatively received, that is subjective. So we need some metric to use, something that can quantify subjective interest. Please share better data if you have it – again, the core point of the OP is about collaboration and execution of updates.
The recent patch notes (Edit - added link and comment)https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d4/t/hotfix-3-july-21-110/96024 is a slight improvement on this – they were pre-released this time with opportunity for feedback. Thats what we need more of, and perhaps a doorway to invite suggestions for change ect. (*) Not sure if this change will address the ‘one-shot’ problems, but it is more inline with what people have been asking for.
I think the solution is to try something like a live campfire chat with community for collaborative brain storming – with proposal points by the community to cover as well as the devs intent.
